Summary

This 2026 Geely Coolray GF Plus is a virtually new example of the region's most popular subcompact crossover, benefiting from the latest four-cylinder engine refinement that GCC buyers now prioritize over earlier models. The GF Plus trim is the range-topping specification, adding high-demand features like ventilated seats and a power tailgate that are essential for the local climate and daily convenience. Finished in White, it occupies the strongest resale position in the UAE market, ensuring high desirability when it eventually returns to the used market. In a segment dominated by naturally aspirated rivals, this turbocharged 172 hp crossover offers a significantly more engaging drive for highway merging and city overtakes. For a buyer in the GCC, this represents a low-risk entry into a tech-forward SUV with a well-established service network across the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2026 Coolrays

As a current model year vehicle with negligible age, this Coolray offers a significant advantage over high-mileage examples often found in the UAE's fast-paced commuting market. The exterior White finish is the most sought-after color in the GCC, providing superior heat reflection and maintaining the highest possible residual value. Choosing this specific unit ensures you are receiving the latest mechanical updates, including the smoother four-cylinder powertrain that has replaced the older three-cylinder versions.

GF PLUS vs Lower Trims

The GF Plus sits at the top of the hierarchy, adding premium comfort features that the base GL and mid-spec GF trims lack, most notably the ventilated front seats which are a necessity during the intense GCC summer. It also upgrades the ownership experience with a hands-free power tailgate and a more comprehensive ADAS safety package. Tech-focused buyers will appreciate the inclusion of the 540-degree camera system, providing an 'under-chassis' view that makes navigating tight urban parking and high curbs effortless.

Coolray vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Hyundai Creta and MG ZS, the Coolray leads with a class-leading 290 Nm of torque, offering much sharper acceleration for merging onto 140 km/h highways. While competitors often use CVT transmissions, the Geely's 7-speed wet Dual-Clutch Transmission is specifically designed to handle heat and stop-start traffic more effectively. The cabin technology, centered around a massive 14.6-inch HD display, feels a generation ahead of most entry-level Japanese and Korean crossovers in this price bracket.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages between 6.5 and 8.0 L/100km, offering a strong balance for the long-distance commutes common between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km, with a growing network of authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ensuring parts are readily available. The Coolray has demonstrated one of the lowest depreciation rates among Chinese brands in the GCC, frequently retaining over 80% of its value after the first year of ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivers a punchy 172 hp, allowing for a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 7.6 seconds, which is exceptionally quick for a subcompact SUV. This performance is managed through four distinct drive modes—including a 'Smart' mode that adapts to your specific driving style in real-time. While road-biased, its 180 mm ground clearance and specialized Traction Control System provide enough capability for light gravel tracks and weekend excursions to the outskirts of the desert.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for five occupants and features premium PVC sports-style leather that is easy to maintain in dusty GCC environments. The dual-zone climate control is supplemented by dedicated rear vents, ensuring the entire cabin stays chilled even in 45°C+ temperatures. Acoustic glass and a panoramic sunroof with a thick sunshade provide excellent insulation against both external noise and the overhead sun, making long inter-emirate drives significantly more relaxing.

Safety

Standard safety on this GF Plus trim includes six airbags and a comprehensive suite of active aids like Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are vital for multi-lane highway safety. The Intelligent Cruise Assist and Lane Keeping Assist reduce driver fatigue on long desert stretches. Additionally, the high-strength steel cage construction provides a solid safety foundation that rivals many premium European crossovers in the same size category.

The bottom line

This 2026 Coolray GF Plus is the ideal choice for a young professional or small family seeking maximum technology and performance in a compact footprint without the depreciation of a luxury brand. As a top-trim model in the region's best resale color, it is a secure and high-value opportunity in today's market.
