Summary

The 2026 Suzuki Across GLX enters the GCC market as a tech-forward flagship that prioritizes daily efficiency without the complexity of a plug-in system. While international markets see a RAV4-based hybrid, this GCC-spec model utilizes a proven 1.5L mild-hybrid powertrain designed specifically for low running costs in urban traffic. The GLX trim significantly elevates the experience with high-demand features like ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof, making it a more premium alternative to the Grand Vitara. With zero-kilometer examples entering the market, it represents a strong buy for those seeking Suzuki's legendary reliability paired with modern cabin technology. In a region where heat and fuel economy are top of mind, its combination of cooling comfort and class-leading efficiency makes it a highly practical commuter.

This Car vs Other 2026 Acrosses

As a brand-new arrival for the 2026 model year, this Across is in peak condition for the GCC market, where most used alternatives currently carry significantly higher mileage from heavy inter-emirate commuting. The Grey exterior is a versatile, high-resale choice that hides desert dust effectively compared to darker shades. Choosing a current-year model ensures full access to the latest digital cockpit software and the most up-to-date driver assistance calibrations.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim is a major step up from the base GL, adding essential GCC comforts like ventilated and cooled front seats and a full panoramic sunroof. Technology sees a significant boost with a 360-degree surround-view camera and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that replaces the semi-analog setup found in lower trims. You also gain a premium Infinity audio system and 64-color ambient lighting, features that help the Across feel like a genuine flagship rather than a budget commuter.

Across vs Segment Rivals

The Across competes directly with the Toyota Urban Cruiser and Kia Seltos, leading the pack in pure fuel efficiency with a manufacturer-claimed 5.3 L/100km. While rivals might offer more raw horsepower, the Suzuki wins on ground clearance with 210 mm, making it better suited for navigating high curbs and unpaved shortcuts common in developing communities. Its mild-hybrid system is simpler and lighter than full-hybrid competitors, offering a more mechanical and connected driving feel.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically stays between 5.6 and 6.5 L/100km, making it one of the most affordable SUVs to run across the UAE and wider GCC. Suzuki's authorized service network is one of the most robust in the region, with service intervals typically set at 10,000 km or 15,000 km depending on the specific dealer package. The Across is expected to follow the Vitara’s strong depreciation curve, retaining approximately 88-90% of its value in the first year due to high demand for reliable, fuel-efficient Japanese crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5L K15C engine delivers 102 hp and is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, a notable upgrade over Suzuki's older 4-speed units. While designed for efficiency rather than speed, the 210 mm ground clearance ensures it handles light gravel and weekend beach trips with ease. The 12V mild-hybrid system provides a subtle electric boost during acceleration, which is particularly helpful for smooth stop-start progress in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for the heat, featuring dedicated rear AC vents and standard ventilated front seats in this GLX trim. The 10.1-inch infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity for long drives between cities. Cabin insulation is improved over smaller Suzuki models, and the copper-stitched synthetic leather upholstery provides a durable yet premium feel that holds up well against the intense GCC sun.

Safety

This GLX trim comes standard with six airbags and a comprehensive suite of active safety tech, including a 360-degree camera which is invaluable for parking in tight urban spaces. Standard features like Hill Hold Control and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) provide confidence on the sandy or gravel surfaces often encountered off the main highways. The addition of autonomous emergency braking and lane departure prevention in this generation ensures it meets modern family safety expectations.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who values long-term reliability and class-leading fuel economy over raw power, this zero-kilometer Across GLX is a smart, tech-rich flagship that’s perfectly suited for the region's climate.
