Summary

This 2026 Toyota Hiace GL represents a strategic acquisition for businesses requiring a reliable high-capacity transport solution with the mechanical simplicity of a manual gearbox. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in the Emirates, ensuring this bus remains a liquid asset for any fleet. While rivals have moved toward complex turbocharged engines, this naturally aspirated V6 offers the smooth power delivery and heat tolerance essential for long-haul desert routes between major cities. It is a purpose-built workhorse that balances Toyota’s legendary durability with modern smartphone integration, making it a frontrunner for staff transport or tourism operations in the GCC.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiaces

With near-zero mileage, this 2026 model provides a significant advantage over the high-usage examples typical of the GCC transport sector. The white exterior finish specifically strengthens its future resale case, as it is the most requested color for commercial fleets in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim elevates the passenger experience over the base Commuter by adding essential GCC comforts like a multi-tier rear air conditioning system and individual reclining functions for the second-row seats. It also includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a feature often absent in lower, more utilitarian specifications.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace consistently leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai Staria in terms of long-term mechanical durability and parts availability across the remote regions of the GCC. Its 3.5-liter V6 provides superior naturally aspirated power for fully-loaded highway overtaking compared to the smaller displacement engines found in many competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 12.4 L/100km, performing efficiently on the long, flat highways common in the UAE and Oman. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it benefits from the region's most extensive authorized service network with standard 10,000 km service intervals. It commands one of the lowest depreciation rates in the commercial segment, typically retaining significant value even after three years of fleet service.

Performance & Capability

The 277 hp V6 engine is tuned for high-torque delivery at 351 Nm, ensuring the bus handles steep mountain passes and heavy passenger loads without strain. The 6-speed manual transmission offers drivers precise control over power delivery, which is particularly useful for maintaining stability during long-distance transport in high ambient temperatures. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration is engineered for balanced handling even when the 9+ seat cabin is at maximum capacity.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for the extreme GCC summer, featuring high-output independent front and rear air conditioning with vents distributed across all passenger rows. The 9+ seating configuration provides ample legroom and durable fabric upholstery designed to withstand the rigors of daily commercial use. Acoustic insulation has been improved in this generation to ensure a quieter environment for passengers during high-speed highway cruising.

Safety

This GL trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Active Traction Control (ATRC) to maintain grip on varied road surfaces. Standard safety features include dual front airbags, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) for stop-start city traffic, and a rear-view camera to assist in maneuvering this large-format bus in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

This Hiace GL is the ideal choice for a GCC fleet operator who values mechanical reliability and high resale potential over complex electronics.
