Summary

The 2026 Toyota Hiace GL represents the peak of professional passenger transport, pairing Toyota's legendary durability with a high-output 3.5L V6 engine that excels on GCC highways. This specific GL trim offers a more refined cabin environment than standard commuters, making it the preferred choice for premium shuttle services and tourism fleets across the region. In a market where white is the gold standard for resale, this brand-new unit offers immediate availability without the typical showroom wait times. Its semi-bonnet design significantly improves crash safety and cabin quietness compared to older flat-front models. For a GCC buyer, the peace of mind provided by the region's most widespread service network is the ultimate ownership advantage.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiaces

As a brand-new 2026 model, this Hiace offers the latest safety and tech updates before they become common on the used market. In the GCC, where commercial vehicles often cover over 50,000 km annually, starting with a zero-meter vehicle provides a significant longevity advantage. The white exterior is the most practical choice for the region, reflecting heat effectively and ensuring the highest possible demand when it comes time to trade in.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim elevates the Hiace from a basic workhorse to a professional shuttle by adding essential comfort features like high-grade fabric reclining seats and a modernized 8-inch touchscreen with mobile integration. Crucially for the GCC climate, the GL includes a more sophisticated dual air conditioning system with dedicated individual ceiling vents for all 13 passengers. It also features upgraded exterior aesthetics, including a plated front grille and color-keyed bumpers that command a more premium presence.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace consistently leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai Staria in terms of mechanical simplicity and long-term resale value in the Middle East. While competitors may offer more avant-garde styling, the Toyota’s 3.5L V6 engine provides superior highway overtaking power, which is vital for inter-city shuttle routes between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Its parts availability is unmatched, with components found in almost every corner of the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 is remarkably efficient for its size, averaging approximately 9.1 km/L during typical GCC highway cruising. Maintenance remains highly affordable thanks to 10,000 km service intervals and a massive network of authorized centers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, the Hiace retains roughly 85-90% of its value after the first year in the UAE, outperforming almost every other commercial vehicle in its class.

Performance & Capability

With 277 horsepower and 351 Nm of torque, the Hiace GL handles full passenger loads with ease, reaching a stable top speed of 160 km/h for efficient long-distance travel. The 6-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to reduce driver fatigue during heavy stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai. Its rear-wheel-drive layout and robust leaf-spring rear suspension ensure the durability needed to handle high payloads over years of daily service.

Comfort & Cabin

The high-roof design provides excellent vertical headroom, allowing passengers to move through the cabin with ease during airport transfers or tours. The powerful GCC-spec air conditioning is engineered to drop cabin temperatures rapidly even when exterior heat exceeds 45°C. Practical touches like multiple USB charging ports and durable, easy-to-clean fabric upholstery make it perfectly suited for high-frequency commercial use.

Safety

Safety is anchored by a reinforced semi-bonnet chassis that provides a dedicated crumple zone, a major upgrade over traditional cab-over designs. Standard features on this GL trim include dual front airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) to prevent skidding on sandy surfaces, and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC). The inclusion of a rear-view camera and parking sensors makes maneuvering this large bus in tight urban environments significantly safer.

The bottom line

This 2026 Hiace GL is the ideal investment for a business seeking the GCC's most reliable 13-seater passenger solution with the highest possible resale security.
