• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2026 Hilux GLX offers a balanced entry into the legendary Hilux ecosystem, pairing the durable 2.7L petrol engine with the daily convenience of an automatic transmission. As a GCC-spec model, it features a cooling system and air conditioning package specifically engineered for the Arabian Peninsula's extreme summer temperatures. While many rivals move toward complex turbocharged systems, this naturally aspirated workhorse remains a top choice for those prioritizing long-term mechanical simplicity and ease of maintenance across the region. Its white exterior is not just a practical choice for reflecting desert heat, but also ensures the strongest possible resale demand in the UAE and wider Gulf markets. For the buyer who needs a truck that works as hard in the city as it does on a remote site, this RWD Hilux is a reliable, high-value asset.

This Car vs Other 2026 Hiluxes

As a 2026 model with delivery mileage, this Hilux represents the latest evolution of the AN120 generation, benefiting from refined cabin materials and Toyota's most recent safety software updates. In the GCC market, where 20,000 km is a standard annual average, starting with a brand-new vehicle provides a significant advantage in long-term equity. The white exterior is the highest-volume resale color in the region, ensuring liquidity when it comes time to trade in.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim provides a significant jump in daily usability over the entry-level GL, most notably adding a modern 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike the work-focused base variants, the GLX includes power-folding mirrors, alloy wheels, and a more refined fabric interior that makes it suitable for family duties. It also upgrades the safety suite with standard Vehicle Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist, which are often absent on fleet-oriented lower trims.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Mitsubishi L200 or the Nissan Navara, the Hilux stands out for its superior parts availability and the sheer density of the Toyota service network throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The 80-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in the mid-size segment, providing a distinct range advantage for cross-border drives or long hauls between cities. While rivals may offer more tech, the Hilux leads in total cost of ownership and historical reliability.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L 2TR-FE engine is one of the most reliable powertrains in the GCC, with real-world combined fuel consumption averaging approximately 10.4 L/100km. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and the widespread availability of both genuine and high-quality aftermarket parts keeps long-term maintenance costs lower than European or American competitors. Historically, the Hilux retains roughly 80-85% of its value after three years in the UAE market, making it one of the most stable automotive investments in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp engine is tuned for durability rather than high-speed sprints, delivering consistent torque for hauling loads up to 1,000 kg. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission provides a smooth experience on UAE highways while maintaining the ruggedness needed for gravel tracks and construction sites. With a ground clearance of approximately 286 mm, it easily navigates the high curbs and uneven terrain often encountered in developing industrial areas.

Comfort & Cabin

The double-cab layout comfortably seats five, with a cabin designed to withstand the abrasive sand and dust common in the GCC. The air conditioning system is a standout feature, engineered to reach cabin-wide cooling temperatures rapidly even when the vehicle has been parked in 45°C heat. The GLX trim adds convenience features like steering-wheel-mounted controls and a rear-view camera, making the vehicle much easier to park in tight urban environments like Deira or Sharjah.

Safety

Safety is managed through a combination of active and passive systems, including dual front airbags and a dedicated driver's knee airbag. Standard GCC safety equipment on this trim includes Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Tire Pressure Monitoring, which is vital for long-distance highway safety in high temperatures. The inclusion of Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) helps prevent skidding on sandy road shoulders, a common hazard in regional driving.

The bottom line

This Hilux GLX is the definitive choice for a UAE buyer who requires a brand-new, work-ready pickup with modern tech and the region's best resale prospects.
