Summary

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ GXR marks the return of a legend, now evolved into a five-door layout that better serves GCC families while retaining its rugged ladder-frame DNA. This white GXR is a standout choice in the local market, as the color offers the highest resale resilience in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Powered by a bulletproof 2.7L engine, it prioritises long-term durability and ease of maintenance over complex electronics, making it ideal for those who value mechanical reliability. While it rivals the Nissan Xterra and Mitsubishi Montero Sport, the FJ’s Land Cruiser heritage and compact footprint offer a unique blend of urban maneuverability and desert capability. For a GCC buyer, this represents a low-risk entry into the premium off-road segment with a brand that has the strongest service support in the region.

This Car vs Other 2027 Land Cruiser FJs

As a current model year vehicle in the GCC, this listing represents the latest production standard for the J240 platform. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring better thermal management in summer and faster resale than darker shades. Its status as a brand-new GCC spec vehicle provides the buyer with full regional warranty benefits and cooling systems specifically tuned for desert heat.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant technology and comfort leap over the base EXR, most notably adding a 360-degree camera system and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Inside, you trade basic fabric for synthetic leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat, while the exterior is upgraded with 18-inch black aluminum wheels that offer a more aggressive stance than the standard 17-inch variants.

Land Cruiser FJ vs Segment Rivals

Against competitors like the Nissan Xterra and Mitsubishi Montero Sport, the Land Cruiser FJ leads with its specialized off-road geometry, featuring a 245 mm ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth. While rivals may offer more engine cylinders, the FJ focuses on a short-wheelbase advantage that makes it more agile in soft dunes and tight city parking in Dubai or Riyadh. Its body-on-frame construction is shared with the legendary Hilux, giving it a durability edge that monocoque crossovers cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L engine is engineered for longevity, with a manufacturer-quoted fuel consumption of approximately 10.1 km/L, though GCC city driving typically sees figures closer to 11.5 L/100km. Toyota’s presence across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait is unmatched, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available at any authorized center. Historically, Land Cruiser models retain value better than any other brand in the GCC, typically losing only 8-10% annually compared to 15% or more for European luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 2.7L naturally aspirated engine delivers 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque, focused on reliability and low-end crawl ability rather than high-speed sprints. Its part-time 4WD system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case (4L) and a rear differential lock, providing the hardware necessary for serious desert weekend trips. On the highway, the 6-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smooth cruising, comfortably handling the 120-140 km/h speeds common on UAE motorways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is centered around a modern 12.3-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay, ensuring seamless connectivity for long drives. Despite its rugged exterior, the GXR trim offers tri-zone automatic climate control with dedicated vents to combat the 45°C+ GCC summers. The five-seat configuration provides 765 litres of cargo space, making it a practical choice for camping gear or family grocery runs.

Safety

The GXR comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, featuring Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Lane Departure Alert which are invaluable for long desert highway stretches. The safety package is comprehensive for the segment, including seven airbags, a 360-degree camera for navigating tight off-road trails, and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) to maintain stability on steep inclines and loose gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

Perfect for the adventurer who needs a reliable daily driver, this 2027 FJ GXR offers the ultimate peace of mind with Toyota’s legendary GCC resale value and off-road hardware.
