Summary

This 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ EXR represents the highly anticipated return of a rugged icon, now optimized for the modern GCC driver. With only 10 km on the odometer, this virtually brand-new SUV offers the strongest resale potential in the region, especially in its timeless Black finish. While rivals prioritize complex electronics, the FJ EXR sticks to a proven 2.7L powertrain designed for extreme heat durability and mechanical simplicity. It is the ideal choice for those seeking legendary reliability in a compact, maneuverable body that thrives in both tight urban traffic and weekend desert trails. For a GCC buyer, this is a long-term asset backed by the region's most robust parts and service infrastructure.

This Car vs Other 2027 Land Cruiser FJs

With just 10 km recorded, this FJ is in showroom condition and sits well below the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for GCC vehicles. The Black exterior is a high-demand choice in the UAE and Saudi Arabian markets, ensuring faster liquidity and better value retention at resale. It represents a rare opportunity to own the first model year of a new generation at zero-mileage status.

EXR vs Lower Trims

The EXR serves as the essential gateway to the Land Cruiser FJ family, focusing on the core hardware GCC enthusiasts demand. It standardizes the locking rear differential and the 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, features often missing on base-tier utility trims. While higher grades add cosmetic flourishes, the EXR retains the durable fabric seating better suited for the intense summer heat.

Land Cruiser FJ vs Segment Rivals

The FJ leads the compact 4x4 segment with a dedicated body-on-frame architecture, providing superior durability over monocoque rivals like the Ford Bronco Sport. Its 80-litre fuel tank offers a significantly longer range for cross-border highway drives compared to the GWM Tank 300. Additionally, the FJ benefits from a vastly more accessible service network across the entire GCC, from major cities to remote desert outposts.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L 2TR-FE engine is one of the most reliable units in Toyota’s global lineup, with fuel consumption averaging approximately 10.1 km/L in mixed GCC conditions. Maintenance is straightforward with 5,000 km minor service intervals readily available at any authorized Al Futtaim or Abdullah Abdulghani center. Historically, Land Cruiser models retain up to 85% of their value after three years in the GCC, significantly outperforming European and American competitors.

Performance & Capability

Engineered for capability rather than speed, the FJ features a part-time 4WD system with H2, H4, and L4 low-range gearing for serious off-roading. Its 245 mm ground clearance and 700 mm wading depth allow it to navigate wadi crossings and soft dunes that would stop most crossovers. While the 164 hp engine provides steady highway cruising, its real strength lies in the low-end torque required for technical desert driving and steep inclines.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for functional comfort, featuring a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system specifically calibrated for 45°C+ temperatures. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, essential for family trips during the UAE summer. Despite its retro exterior, the interior is tech-forward with a high-resolution 12.3-inch display and ample cargo space of up to 765 litres for camping gear or daily groceries.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active systems including Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), which are vital for maintaining grip on unpredictable sand and gravel surfaces. This EXR trim includes multiple airbags and ISOFIX points, making it a safe choice for families. The inclusion of a rear differential lock also acts as a safety feature, preventing the vehicle from becoming stranded in remote desert areas.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser FJ is the perfect match for the practical adventurer who values legendary Toyota durability and high resale value over fleeting trends. It is a rare chance to secure a brand-new, GCC-spec unit of the region's most talked-about new 4x4.
