Dodge has a reputation in the modern period for producing flashy fast cars and attractive, tough pickup trucks. Family cars have been just as essential to the company even though they are less well-known; the Caravan, for instance, invented the minivan market. After being acquired by Fiat in 2014, the new Fiat-Chrysler Alliance gave Dodge executives a lot of freedom, and the brand once again became known as a supplier of high-performing and affordably priced family vehicles.
Today, Dodge designs and manufactures roomy vehicles and SUVs with a healthy touch of sportiness. The automaker's in-house tuner, SRT, has buyers covered with a line of vehicles that will blow the doors off most cars on the road for those who still want a strong dose of muscle!
The modern Dodge Charger has aged more gracefully than other vehicles in its class. The large sedan, now in its eleventh model year, is well-known, but its chiselled appearance and lively attitude feel timeless. The Charger purposefully plays up its retro vibe and associations with the large, fast Mopars of yore, which plays to its strengths. Like Metallica, Master of Puppets' material isn't exactly fresh, but fans still adore it, and the Charger's amplifier is powerful and juicier than ever.
The interior of every Charger model is spacious, offering nearly best-in-class capacity for passengers forward and backwards, as well as a sizable 16.5 cubic-foot trunk. Additionally, because of its long wheelbase and well-damped suspension, it rides as comfortably as any other family car. With a 5.7-litre V8 engine producing 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque, the Charger R/T can go from zero to sixty in under five seconds. Wide body Chargers are 3.5 inches wider than standard Chargers, and they also have altered front and rear appearance, 11-inch-wide wheels, and adaptable Bilstein suspension dampers.
This arrangement, made specifically for the Hellcat, increases grip and tractability. The Hellcats are first in the lineup. A 6.2-litre V8 supercharger powers each. If the normal Hellcat's 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft are insufficient, there is also the Redeye model, which produces a whopping 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft. Both only exist in wide-body versions, are rear-wheel drive, and employ an eight-speed automatic transmission, just like all V8 Chargers. The new Dodge Charger price in Dubai is AED 115,150.
Dodge has made clear its aspirations for a battery-electric future in 2022. Yes, the automaker who rekindled the horsepower wars in the early 2000s and engaged in an arms race with anyone willing to enter the fray in the following years wants to leave the internal combustion game. But since gradual transformation takes time, the 2022 Dodge Challenger is still available with V6 and V8 powertrains in more than a dozen different model levels, some of which come with all-wheel drive (AWD) and wide-body options. The 2022 Challenger supports a democratic system of power sharing.
The 3.0-litre V6 in the SXT and GT produces 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque; the GT produces 300 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. V6 is surprisingly content in its position of moving this 4,000-pound (plus around 270 pounds for AWD versions) coupe through life, despite not being able to compete with the V8 alternatives. The R/T is when the real fun begins. It comes with a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque; upgrade to the R/T Scat Pak, and add a 392 Hemi with 485 and 475 lb-ft.
The SRT Hellcat, the 6.2-litre, 717-horsepower, and 650 lb-ft beasts that ignited the previous round of muscle frenzy, is unquestionably the symbol of the lineup. With its ability to run the air conditioning at full blast all day in 90-degree temps and then unleash tire-melting burnouts while leaving the Taco Bell parking lot at night, the Hellcat gives a true Jekyll and Hyde experience. A 717-horsepower production car would have been as dependable as a $2 watch 20 years ago.
The same engine is modified in the Hellcat Redeye to produce 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. Dodge refers to it as "Hellcat High-Output." The SRT Super Stock and Jailbreak variants finally receive a 6.2 engine with 807 horsepower. At this point, the escalation is lovely but a little ludicrous. When you've passed 700 horsepower, is going straight the only option? Find out by buying one. The new Dodge Challenger price in Dubai ranges from AED 157,499 to AED 254,000.
The 2019 Ram 1500, the fifth generation, set new benchmarks for full-size pickups in terms of refinement, crash safety, fuel efficiency, and optional luxury. Even after five model years, it is still among the top cars in its class, competing favourably with the all-new Toyota Tundra from last year and the Ford F-150, which will get a facelift in 2020. The Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra, GM's half-ton competitors, received significant updates in 2022 to close the gap. However, they still fall short of the Ram in terms of sophistication and (available) luxury.
Since its launch, Ram has gradually but subtly upgraded to 1500; however, what is noteworthy about 2023 is what will vanish. The 1500's optional EcoDiesel V6 engine, which shares best-in-class fuel economy with GM's diesels, will no longer be manufactured after January 2023. 1500 has some new standard features and limited editions, but other than that, not much has changed. The ferocious 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX and the venerable Ram 1500 Classic are the other two 1500s that we examine separately (the fourth-generation 1500, new way back in 2009).
There are three engine options for the Ram 1500. Starting with a 3.6-litre V6 engine, base versions have a mild hybrid "eTorque" assist system as standard, producing 306 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. The 5.7-liter "Hemi" V8 follows, which has 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque and is available with or without a mild hybrid system. However, because the price is the same, there is no reason to forego it. The Ram's best towing capacities are provided by the 3.0 litre EcoDiesel V6 with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. All three options use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Rams come standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD), with four-wheel drive (4WD) being an option on all but one model, similar to other full-size trucks. The basic 1500 gives enough dirt track capability, and the optional air suspension can even increase the ground clearance to 10.7 inches, even if the 1500 TRX is the most off-road-focused Ram. Along with skid plates and tow hooks, the Rebel trim adds a TRX-like appearance. There are also locking diffs and available all-terrain tyres.
While the Ram is quite capable off-road, it stands out from other full-size vehicles on the road thanks to its coil-link suspension, a Ram trademark since 2009, and optional air setup, which give it a quiet, billiard table-smooth ride and surprisingly quick responses to driver inputs for such a large vehicle. You can sense its perimeter in congested metropolitan locations, but it never punishes the driver or jolts along uneven terrain. It is only matched in silent comfort and refinement by Ford's (expensive) electric F-150 Lightning, which also uses an unconventional rear suspension.
