2017 Audi A3 revised with more power and tech

Audi is currently revising every model in its fleet and is doing an impressive job in doing so even if they are minor changes. For example, 2017 Audi R8 models look even more desirable than ever before; the 2017 A4 looks great and the same goes for the 2017 Q7. Now it’s time for the A3 to receive to refresh treatment.

The next generation of Audi A3 models are available in four body styles; sedan, hatchback, wagon and convertible. No significant changes to report on, apart from enhanced front light housing with an edgier look stuffed with Matrix LED. They aren’t standard across all models. However, adaptive xenons are with LED’s. Five new shades of paint are on offer, bringing the total up to 12.

Inside, a 7-inch screen rises from the centre console for all your media needs, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fully integrated into the system. There’s also a USB port for those of us that don’t own an Android or iPhone. With the new generation, it’s a lot more appealing, simple and easy on the eyes. No clutter inside, that’s for sure. Leather seats are optional as is GPS functions.

Following in the footsteps of Audi’s sitting above them, swapping the plain dashboard instrument cluster for a sharper digital 12.3-inch screen is on offer. For those who don’t know about it, navigation and all other media options are shown right in front of the driver enabling easy visual access without having to look to the right.

Engine options are as follows; a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol motor rated at 115 horsepower, a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four with 190 horsepower and a brand new 1.6-litre turbodiesel with 110 hp. Of the three, two probably won’t be stocked here, however, if you want a diesel motor or a three-cylinder power unit, Audi would be more than happy to help you out.

These three above are for standard 2017 Audi A3 models, what about S3 models? They return once again running with the same turbo four, as it did last year. Now increased by ten horsepower and 20 Nm of torque, bringing the total up to 310 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The A3 e-tron also returns alongside for a total of five power plants.

As additional extras, the German manufacturer offers adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, traffic jam assist and emergency braking.

2017 refreshed and upgraded Audi models start rolling into showrooms this May. Exact launch date and price have yet to be confirmed in the Middle East.
