2017 Hyundai Genesis unmasked

Last year, Hyundai gave us the Hyundai G90 sedan. With powerful engines, luxurious trims and looks to rival BMW, Lexus and Mercedes it took over from the outgoing Centennial. After pinching a few sales from top brands, the luxury sedan is back with a new name.

Now bearing the G80 moniker, slightly enhanced properties are visible including full LED tail lamps, front grille and bumpers. Inside, all remains relatively unchanged. Safety features are improved with the inclusion of smart cruise control, Emergency Braking, Lane Assist Keeping, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic and Lane Departure Assist. On top of that, nine airbags, energy absorbing front seats and Electronic Stability Control are thrown in.

Powering this South Korean luxury sedan is a choice between a V6 3.8-litre petrol motor pumping out 311 horsepower, and the other petrol engine is a hefty V8 with the displacement of 5-litre’s and an output of 420 horses. Both models send power to all four corners and can exceed the 200 km/h mark.

To make sure the G80 is up to standard, secretly, the South Korean took to the Nurburgring and pushed the luxury sedan to its limits to achieve pitch perfect braking and handling properties not to mention they put down multiple laps to get the vehicles ride spot on.

2017 Genesis sedan models are due out before the end of the year with an announced price.
