Audi TT Sportback, its a TT with more doors!

Dubai International Motor Show has been and gone, that doesn’t mean car manufacturers haven’t got more to show off. With Motor Shows in China and America taking place over the next two weeks, Automotive brands have a few more tricks up their sleeve and with this in mind, there is a lot of speculation going on.

Making the rounds at the moment is Audi’s TT Sportback, shown off last year in Paris it raised a few eyebrows and left many wondering why? It may come as a surprise to most, however, gran coupe’s are on the rise and they look pretty good for a “sedan”. Whilst most are quite expensive, with Audi offering a TT gran coupe, those with a lower budget can jump on the bandwagon. No pricing has been announced as of now.

This gran coupe or “sedan” measures in at 4.47 metres in length making it just 290 mm longer than regular TT’s it’s not only grown in length, it’s gotten wider by 60mm to be exact and it sits 30mm lower to the ground.

Interior specs will be identical to coupe and roadster variants, there is a possibility new features may be added with higher trims but nothing is set in stone just yet. O, there is one difference, two seats are set up in the rear to accommodate passengers entering through rear doors. It may be a bit of a squeeze, however compared to coupe style TT’s, it’s a slightly roomier back there.

Interior is not the only equipment it shares, it’s built on the same MQB platform. As that is the case expect similar engines dropped up front: inline turbocharged four cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine, pumping out between 230 to 310 horsepower. Expect power to be sent to the front wheels or all four via Audi’s Quattro system and a few engine options, don’t get your hopes up about a V6 though. This one pictured had a 2.0-litre TFSI dropped in the engine bay claimed to output 395 horsepower, which would be a welcomed addition to the TT family.

Concept pictures shown off include a luggage set to pack your things and stuff them into the boot for some long road trips in your new “sedan”.

Over the years there have been some interesting concepts of the TT, for example an SUV version, shooting brake style and many enhanced variants. SUV models have actually been confirmed and are expected to show up in 2017. Other models are still up in the air sadly, please Audi make a shooting brake version!

If rumours are true, then this would be one of the first in a while gran coupes actually based off a coupe chassis, much like the Mazda RX-8 was. All gran coupes currently on the road are bolted on to a sedan chassis.

Take everything here with a pinch of salt as the Audi TT Sportback is rumoured to be shown off at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China, which starts tomorrow. If four doors are too much check out used Audi TT for sale in Dubai on dubicars.com
