Dubai Bus On Demand is an app-based shared minibus service that forms part of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority public transport network.

Unlike regular RTA buses, Bus On Demand vehicles do not follow one fixed route or timetable. Instead, passengers request a journey through the Dubai Bus On Demand app.

The system groups passengers travelling in similar directions and automatically calculates a suitable route.

How Does Dubai Bus On Demand Work?

Passengers enter their pickup location and destination into the app. The system finds a suitable minibus and calculates a route based on existing passenger requests.

The app provides information including:

• Trip fare

The service is closer to a corner-to-corner system than a full door-to-door service. Passengers may therefore need to walk a short distance to the assigned pickup point or from the drop-off point to their final destination. The minibuses can accommodate up to 14 passengers.

RTA Bus On Demand Prices

Bus On Demand uses its own fare structure.

Passengers can include up to six people in one booking. For example, a normal journey for three passengers would cost AED 13: AED 5 for the first passenger and AED 4 for each additional passenger.

Although many journeys take place within individual service areas, passengers can travel between certain neighbouring Bus On Demand zones.

Bus On Demand is primarily designed as a real-time transport service. Passengers generally request a minibus shortly before travelling rather than reserving a journey for a specific time hours or days in advance.

• Ride Credits through the app

Cash is not accepted. Importantly, paying with a nol card does not make a Bus On Demand trip part of the normal Metro or public bus fare calculation.
