1995 was the first year that a Hummer was offered from the factory with a gas engine. The gas engine is significantly quieter than the diesel and offered a reliable addition to the Hummer line. The disadvantages to the gas engine included lower fuel economy and decreased fording ability. 1995 was the highest production model year for the H1 with approximately 1,432 built, 553 or about 39% of which were gas models.

Significant changes for 1995.
5.7L Gas Engine available for first time. Quieter than Diesel but fuel economy suffers.
Tachometer offered as standard on Gas Engine models and as an option on Diesels.
Moved "B" bar in roof back. Provides more front headroom.
Added Hood lock with interior release.
Added bracing and mounting points for Aux seat option. Bracing also on very few very late model '94s.
Dual rear "ambulance " doors replace tailgate. Tailgate as on '94s still available, but only 25 '95s are built with the $205 optional tailgate.
New Ball joints. You will see this often. Many gradual improvements through the years.
Added heat shields. Almost all early Heat shields cracked and rattled at some point. Gradual improvements eventually eliminated this problem.
New Brake Proportioning Valve.
New wider arm rests.
New Heavier Center Link.
New control arms.
New Tie Rods.
New Pitman and Idler arms. You will also see many changes here through the years. Still a weak link for a few more years.
New Battery Vendor.
New fuel tank vent on Gas models. Important upgrade. Early Gas model tanks swelled and rubbed on driveshaft before new vents installed.
New Standard GVW Springs.
New Vanity mirror sunvisor.
Factory CD Changer available for first time.
Rear Defrost available on Hard Top and 2-Passenger models.
Aluminum Rocker Panel Protection. Lighter and do not rust when scratched but not as strong as steel. Steel "rockers" still available as factory option through '95.
