Summary

This 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS represents a rare opportunity to own a naturally aspirated V8 performance SUV in the classic Silver-over-black configuration that remains highly sought after in the GCC. Positioned as the driver's choice in the first-generation lineup, the GTS trim balances raw mechanical engagement with daily usability. While the mileage reflects its life as a reliable regional cruiser, the robust 4.8-litre engine and reinforced suspension were engineered specifically for long-term durability in high-heat environments. For the buyer seeking a modern classic that offers a more visceral driving experience than today's turbocharged alternatives, this GCC-spec GTS is a standout choice. It remains one of the few luxury SUVs that can handle both the morning commute and a spirited weekend drive across the Emirates with equal poise.

This Car vs Other 2009 Cayenne GTSs

With 266,000 km, this vehicle has been a consistent long-distance traveler, which is typical for GCC-owned Porsches that frequently commute between major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Silver exterior is a premier resale color in the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a cleaner appearance during dusty summer months compared to darker shades. Its status as a regional GCC spec ensures the cooling system and air conditioning are optimized for extreme desert temperatures.

GTS vs Lower Trims

The GTS trim was designed to bridge the gap between the S and the Turbo, adding a more aggressive wide-body factory kit and a 20 hp boost over the standard S model. It features a unique, lowered sports suspension (PASM) and a shorter final drive ratio that provides significantly sharper acceleration and throttle response. Buyers also benefit from the sports exhaust system and 21-inch wheels that were standard on this trim, providing a much more assertive presence than the base or S variants.

Cayenne vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW X5 4.8i or the Range Rover Sport of the same era, the Cayenne GTS leads in high-speed stability and braking performance, borrowing technology directly from Porsche's sports car heritage. Its 100-litre fuel tank provides a superior touring range for long highway stretches across the GCC, while the Tiptronic S transmission offers more reliable high-torque handling than early dual-clutch competitors. The interior build quality focuses on driver ergonomics, offering a more cockpit-like feel than the more utility-focused rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.8L V8 typically averages around 13.9 L/100km, though city driving in stop-start traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see this increase. Porsche has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and wider GCC, with major service intervals typically occurring every 30,000 km. While European luxury SUVs face higher depreciation than Japanese workhorses, the GTS trim has established itself as a modern classic, helping it retain value better than the standard Cayenne S or base models. Parts availability remains excellent throughout the region due to the model's massive historical popularity.

Performance & Capability

The GTS delivers a top speed of 253 km/h, making it exceptionally capable for overtaking on fast-moving regional highways. Its sophisticated Four Wheel Drive system and adjustable PASM suspension allow for a maximum ground clearance of approximately 215 mm, providing enough versatility for light gravel paths or sandy weekend excursions. The shorter final drive ratio means the 400 hp is always accessible, providing a mechanical urgency that defines the GTS badge. Despite its age, the 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds still allows it to hold its own against many modern mid-sized SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is anchored by high-bolstered sports seats that offer excellent support during spirited driving while remaining comfortable for long-distance family road trips. Standard GTS equipment includes premium leather and Alcantara finishes, which stay cooler in the summer compared to full leather interiors. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the Middle East, featuring dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain comfortable even when outside temperatures exceed 45°C. The 540-litre boot provides ample space for grocery runs or weekend luggage for a family of five.

Safety

Safety is managed by Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which integrates ABS, traction control, and automatic brake differential systems to maintain composure on both slick tarmac and sandy surfaces. The GTS comes standard with a comprehensive airbag suite, including front, side, and curtain airbags, providing high-level protection for all occupants. For highway driving, the standard cruise control and high-performance bi-xenon headlights provide essential assistance during late-night drives between emirates.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Cayenne GTS is the perfect match for an enthusiast who values mechanical purity and Porsche's iconic V8 soundtrack in a reliable, regional-ready package.
