• 1,951 litres maximum boot space
• Sony 12-speaker audio system standard

Summary

This GCC-spec Ford Edge Limited offers a compelling balance of mid-size practicality and premium trim features for the regional market. With approximately 101,000 km, it has been driven significantly less than the typical 200,000 km+ expected for a vehicle of this age in the GCC, making it a standout choice for longevity. The Limited trim provides high-value equipment like upgraded leather and premium audio that maintain better resale appeal in the UAE compared to base models. Known for its wide cabin and stable highway manners, this SUV is particularly well-suited for long commutes between Emirates. Its brown exterior is a sophisticated, heat-reflective alternative that remains a steady performer in the local used market.

This Car vs Other 2014 Ford Edges

At 101,650 km, this vehicle’s mileage is exceptionally low for a 2014 model in the GCC, where annual averages typically reach 25,000 km. While many Edges of this vintage are nearing major mechanical overhauls, this example is just entering its prime usage phase. The Brown exterior offers a unique aesthetic that hides desert dust better than darker shades while maintaining better thermal properties than black.

LIMITED vs Lower Trims

The Limited trim is a significant step up from the SE and SEL, introducing the 12-speaker Sony premium audio system and the MyFord Touch interface which were highly sought-after tech upgrades for this era. It adds power-folding ‘EasyFold’ rear seats and a rear-view camera as standard, features that are essential for navigating tight UAE mall parking. You also get superior leather upholstery and ambient lighting that isn't found on the base configurations.

Edge vs Segment Rivals

The Ford Edge leads competitors like the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail in pure cabin width and shoulder room, offering a more 'American-style' spacious feel that is preferred for long-distance cruising. Its 3.5L V6 provides smoother power delivery than the smaller four-cylinder engines often found in rivals, making highway overtaking much more effortless. Additionally, the Edge's boot capacity with seats folded is among the most competitive in the mid-size crossover segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.5L V6 is a staple of the Ford lineup in the UAE, ensuring that spare parts are widely available and affordable at independent garages and authorized Al Tayer or Premier Motors centers. Real-world fuel economy typically averages around 11.5 L/100km, which is efficient for a V6 in GCC stop-start traffic. This model year has already cleared its steepest depreciation curve, offering high value retention for the next owner compared to newer, more expensive crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The 285 hp V6 engine is tuned for the high-speed highway environments of the GCC, providing stable cruising and confident acceleration. While it is a road-biased SUV with 200 mm of ground clearance, it handles gravel tracks and light sandy paths leading to beach spots or wadis with ease. The 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission is designed to handle high ambient temperatures, ensuring consistent performance even during the peak of the Arabian summer.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Limited trim focuses on passenger refinement with dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear vents that are vital for the local climate. The cabin is remarkably quiet thanks to acoustic windshield glass, isolating passengers from wind noise during fast highway drives. The five-seat layout provides class-leading legroom in the second row, making it a genuine long-distance family vehicle.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with six airbags and Ford's AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, which is particularly useful on sandy or rain-slicked roads. This trim includes the MyKey system, allowing owners to set speed limits and volume caps—a popular feature for families with younger drivers. Parking sensors and a high-resolution rear-view camera provide essential assistance in high-traffic urban areas.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a buyer seeking a well-maintained, low-mileage American SUV that offers premium features without the high depreciation of a new vehicle.
