Summary

This Toyota Prado is a rare find in the GCC market, offering the highly sought-after 4.0L V6 engine in the top-spec VX trim. With mileage significantly below the local average for a 2009 model, this vehicle represents a reliable long-term investment for families or desert enthusiasts. The Grey exterior is a resilient choice for the region, maintaining a clean look against dust while ensuring strong resale liquidity. As a GCC-spec VX, it offers a level of cabin refinement and off-road hardware that cheaper trims cannot match. This specific listing is a standout for those seeking legendary Land Cruiser durability without the high mileage typically found on older SUVs.

This Car vs Other 2009 Prados

With just 131,000 km on the odometer, this Prado has been driven roughly 8,700 km per year, which is less than half of the typical 20,000 km annual average for SUVs in the GCC. While many 2009 models on the market have surpassed the 250,000 km mark, this low-mileage example offers significantly more mechanical longevity. The Grey exterior is a high-demand, neutral color in the UAE, providing better heat rejection than darker tones and maintaining higher resale value than non-standard shades.

VX TOP LTH vs Lower Trims

The VX Top Leather trim is a major step up from the base GX and mid-range TXL models, most notably adding a premium leather interior and power-adjustable, heated front seats. Unlike lower trims, the VX features the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) for better on-road stability and increased off-road articulation. It also includes upgraded 18-inch alloy wheels, a 9-speaker premium audio system, and three-zone climate control, which is essential for keeping all eight passengers cool during GCC summers.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8L or the Nissan Pathfinder, the Prado 4.0L leads in long-distance range thanks to its 150-litre dual-tank system. While the Pajero is capable off-road, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction and Toyota’s vast GCC service network provide superior peace of mind for cross-border trips. The Prado also maintains a higher residual value than its American and Japanese competitors, making it the most financially sound choice in the mid-size 4x4 segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine typically averages 13.0L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, though highway cruising is remarkably efficient for a vehicle of this size. Maintenance is straightforward with 5,000 km or 10,000 km intervals, supported by the most extensive authorized service network in the region, including Al-Futtaim in the UAE and Abdullah Abdulghani in Qatar. As a GCC-spec Toyota, this vehicle sits at the top of the value retention curve, depreciating significantly slower than European luxury SUVs or American-spec imports.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 262 hp V6, this Prado delivers the torque necessary for confident highway overtaking and effortless sand dune climbing. It features a genuine low-range transfer case and a Torsen locking center differential, providing hardware-level capability that many modern 'soft-roaders' lack. With 220 mm of ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth, it is perfectly suited for weekend adventures in the Liwa desert or rocky wadi drives in Oman.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for large family logistics, featuring eight seats and a dedicated rear AC system with independent vents for all rows. The factory-fitted coolbox in the center console is a quintessential GCC feature, keeping beverages chilled during long summer drives. Acoustic glass and high-quality insulation help keep the cabin quiet and isolated from the extreme external heat common in the region.

Safety

This VX trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite for its era, including seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control (A-TRC) to manage grip on loose surfaces. The inclusion of Hill Start Assist and Downhill Assist Control provides extra security during steep off-road descents. Rear parking sensors and a rearview camera are also standard, aiding visibility in tight city parking environments.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the indestructible mechanicals of a Land Cruiser in a more city-friendly package, this low-mileage VX Prado is the ideal GCC workhorse. Its combination of top-tier luxury features and documented regional suitability makes it one of the safest used car investments available today.
