Summary

This 2016 Toyota Prado GXR is a standout choice for those seeking a durable 4x4 with mileage that sits below the typical GCC average for a 10-year-old SUV. While many Prados of this vintage have crossed the 200,000 km mark, this example has covered just 101,433 km, preserving its mechanical longevity. The 2.7L engine offers a balanced approach to daily commuting and weekend exploration, paired with Toyota's legendary cooling system engineered for intense Gulf heat. Finished in high-resale White, it represents a safe automotive investment known for holding its value better than almost any other mid-size SUV. For a buyer prioritizing long-term peace of mind, this 3-door GCC-spec variant is a rare find in such well-preserved condition.

This Car vs Other 2016 Prados

With 101,433 km on the odometer, this Prado has averaged roughly 10,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. While higher mileage examples are common in the market, this car's lower usage suggests less wear on the suspension and drivetrain. The White exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring maximum heat reflection and a faster sale when you decide to upgrade.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a meaningful step up from the base EXR, most notably adding a power sunroof and 19-inch alloy wheels that enhance its presence on the road. Inside, you benefit from a more sophisticated infotainment experience with navigation and a rear-view camera as standard. It also includes tri-zone climate control, ensuring the cabin stays cool for all passengers during the peak of the UAE summer.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Pajero, the Prado offers superior resale value and a more robust authorized service network across the entire GCC. While the Nissan Pathfinder focuses on road comfort, the Prado's body-on-frame construction and shorter 3-door wheelbase provide better agility in deep sand and urban traffic. It remains the benchmark for buyers who need a vehicle that can transition from a city commute to a desert weekend without hesitation.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L engine averages around 11.9 L/100km, offering a more economical alternative to the larger V6 variants in stop-start traffic. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the most extensive service network in the region, parts are both affordable and widely available. The Prado J150 generation is famous for its slow depreciation, often retaining a high percentage of its value even after a decade of use in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The Prado is equipped with a genuine full-time 4WD system and a low-range transfer case, allowing it to navigate terrain that would stop most soft-roaders. With 220 mm of ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth, it is fully prepared for the seasonal wadi crossings and desert dunes of the UAE and Oman. The 6-speed automatic transmission introduced for the 2016 model year provides smoother highway cruising compared to older 4-speed units.

Comfort & Cabin

This 3-door model offers a surprisingly spacious 5-seat configuration with high-quality fabric or available leather upholstery that resists the local heat better than darker alternatives. The air conditioning system is widely regarded as one of the best in class, featuring dedicated vents that are essential for maintaining comfort in 45°C+ temperatures. The shorter wheelbase doesn't just help with parking; it creates a cozy, well-insulated cabin that feels secure and quiet at highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GXR include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control, which are vital for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked roads. It features a suite of airbags and ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) to ensure controlled stopping power. For highway driving, the inclusion of parking sensors and a rear-view camera provides extra confidence when navigating tight urban spaces in Dubai or Riyadh.

The bottom line

Perfect for the urban professional or weekend adventurer, this low-mileage GXR offers the ultimate blend of Toyota reliability and high resale security in the GCC market.
