Summary

This GCC-spec Toyota FJ Cruiser is a standout example of one of the region's most resilient off-roaders, particularly in its high-retention Silver finish. With mileage that sits well within the average for its age in the UAE, it offers a mechanical longevity that few rivals can match. The V6 engine provides reliable power for both city commutes and weekend desert adventures, supported by a chassis built for durability. For a buyer in the Gulf, this represents a low-risk entry into serious off-roading with a vehicle that remains incredibly popular for its ease of maintenance. Its status as a discontinued icon ensures it continues to command respect and value across the GCC used market.

This Car vs Other 2011 FJ Cruisers

At 148,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC, placing it in a favorable bracket for a 2011 model. The Silver exterior is one of the most practical choices for the region, as it effectively hides desert dust and maintains the highest resale appeal in the UAE and Saudi markets.

TOP vs Lower Trims

The Top trim elevates the FJ Cruiser's utility with essential GCC upgrades, including a rear-view camera integrated into the mirror and the premium A-TRAC (Active Traction Control) system. It also features the upgraded JBL 10-speaker audio system with a factory-fitted subwoofer, a major step up from the basic audio found in the entry-level variants.

FJ Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Jeep Wrangler of the same era, the FJ Cruiser offers superior cabin insulation and highway refinement, making it a better choice for the long drives between Emirates. Its 4.0L V6 is widely regarded in the region as more durable and easier to service than the powertrains found in European rivals like the Land Rover Defender.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 12–14 L/100km depending on how much time is spent in stop-start traffic versus open highways. The FJ Cruiser enjoys one of the slowest depreciation rates in the GCC, often retaining value better than almost any other SUV in its class due to its discontinued status and massive local demand. Service intervals are recommended every 5,000 km to 10,000 km, with a vast network of authorized centers and independent specialists available across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

Performance & Capability

Built on a rugged body-on-frame chassis, the FJ Cruiser is a dedicated off-roader featuring 245 mm of ground clearance and a 34-degree approach angle for tackling steep dunes. The 4.0L V6 delivers 270 hp and 380 Nm of torque, providing plenty of low-end grunt for sand recovery or highway overtaking. It also boasts a braked towing capacity of 2,250 kg, making it a capable workhorse for hauling trailers or jet skis.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for practicality with water-resistant seats and rubber flooring, perfect for cleaning out sand after a weekend at Al Qudra. The air conditioning system is famously powerful, a critical feature for maintaining cabin comfort during UAE summers that exceed 45°C. Despite its rugged exterior, the Top trim adds steering wheel-mounted controls and Bluetooth connectivity to enhance the daily driving experience.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of six airbags and Toyota's Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRAC). These systems are particularly effective on loose gravel and sandy surfaces, while the inclusion of rear parking sensors and a camera helps mitigate the visibility challenges typical of the FJ's unique retro design.

The bottom line

Perfect for the enthusiast who wants a legendary desert-conquering SUV that holds its value, this low-mileage Silver FJ Cruiser is a mechanically sound investment for the GCC landscape.
