Summary

This 2012 Range Rover Sport SC Autobiography represents the peak of the L320 generation, combining supercharged performance with the most prestigious trim level available. With 190,000 km, the mileage is consistent with average GCC use for a vehicle of this age, where long highway commutes are the norm. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient and popular resale color in the UAE market, effectively hiding dust and maintaining its luster despite the harsh sun. For the serious buyer, this specific Autobiography trim offers a level of interior craftsmanship and road presence that standard SUVs simply cannot match. It remains one of the most capable dual-purpose vehicles for both the fast-moving highways of the Emirates and weekend excursions.

This Car vs Other 2012 Range Rover Sports

At 190,000 km, this vehicle sits within the expected mileage range for a 12-year-old GCC-spec SUV, averaging roughly 15,000 km per year—which is actually below the typical regional average of 20,000 km. The Grey paintwork is a strategic choice for the Middle East, offering significantly better heat reflection and maintenance characteristics than darker tones. Buyers will find this example retains the mechanical poise required for high-speed inter-city travel.

SC AUTOBIOGRAPHY vs Lower Trims

The Autobiography trim elevates the Sport far beyond the HSE, adding standard features that are essential for the GCC climate, such as ventilated front seats and a more powerful climate control system. It also includes the extended leather package, which covers the dashboard and door casings in premium hide, and a 360-degree surround-camera system that is invaluable for parking in tight urban spaces. The unique Autobiography styling kit and diamond-turned wheels provide a distinct visual identity.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne of the same era, the Range Rover Sport leads with its genuine off-road hardware, including a low-range transfer case that its competitors often lack. It offers a more upright, commanding driving position that provides superior visibility on busy multi-lane highways. Additionally, its 3,500 kg braked towing capacity makes it the preferred choice for those needing to haul boats or trailers across the region.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L Supercharged V8 averages approximately 15.9 L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 to 13,000 km at authorized centers, which are widely available across all GCC states. While European luxury SUVs experience higher depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the Autobiography trim holds its value better than lower specs due to its rarity and high desirability among local enthusiasts.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 510 hp supercharged V8, delivering a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds—remarkable performance for a full-sized luxury SUV. The All-Wheel Drive system is managed by Land Rover’s renowned Terrain Response, featuring dedicated modes for Sand, Mud, and Grass/Gravel to handle desert terrain. With 227 mm of ground clearance and sophisticated air suspension, it transitions seamlessly from a high-speed highway cruiser to a capable off-road explorer.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of Semi-Aniline leather and hand-finished wood veneers, designed for long-distance comfort during cross-border drives. Dedicated rear climate vents and acoustic glass ensure that all five passengers remain cool and isolated from the exterior heat and road noise. The inclusion of a premium Harman Kardon audio system and a cooled center console fridge highlights its suitability for the GCC lifestyle.

Safety

Standard safety features on this top-tier trim include an advanced suite of stability controls tailored for both tarmac and loose surfaces, along with multiple airbags and emergency brake assist. The Autobiography comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are particularly useful for maintaining safety during high-speed travel on major GCC arterial roads.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who demands the ultimate L320 specification, this SC Autobiography offers a rare combination of supercharged power and flagship luxury that is perfectly suited for the GCC's unique driving environment.
