• 4,173 kg maximum braked towing capacity
• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials

Summary

This 2013 Ford Expedition XLT offers a compelling entry into the full-size SUV segment, featuring a robust V8 powertrain perfectly suited for GCC conditions. With 136,000 km, this vehicle has averaged approximately 12,000 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the typical 25,000 km annual average seen across the region. Its silver exterior is a strategic choice for the Middle East, reflecting heat efficiently and maintaining high resale appeal. Unlike many modern crossovers, the Expedition utilizes body-on-frame construction and a dedicated low-range gearbox, making it a genuine dual-purpose vehicle for both executive city commuting and weekend desert exploration. For a buyer needing a reliable 8-seater with massive towing capability and proven reliability, this GCC-spec example represents excellent value.

This Car vs Other 2013 Expeditions

At 136,000 km, this Expedition has been driven significantly less than the average for its age in the GCC, where 200,000+ km is common for 2013 models. The silver paint remains the most practical and sought-after color in the local used market due to its ability to hide desert dust and manage extreme thermal loads. As a GCC-spec unit, it benefits from the regional cooling package and full serviceability at any authorized Ford center across the Emirates.

XLT vs Lower Trims

The XLT trim adds essential comfort and convenience features over the base XL, including power-adjustable pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel which are vital for long-distance comfort. It also features upgraded 18-inch machined aluminum wheels and the SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, a signature Ford feature highly valued for outdoor activities where carrying keys is inconvenient. This trim provides the ideal balance of rugged capability and the necessary interior refinements for family use.

Expedition vs Segment Rivals

The Expedition leads rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Toyota Sequoia with its sophisticated independent rear suspension, which provides a smoother ride on the long highway stretches between cities. Its massive 106-liter fuel tank offers superior range for cross-border drives compared to many competitors. Additionally, the Expedition's fold-flat third-row seating creates a level loading floor that is more practical for heavy cargo than the removable seats found in some contemporary rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.4L Triton V8 is a staple of the region, ensuring that parts are readily available and affordable at every major service center from Dubai to Riyadh. While city fuel consumption reflects the vehicle's size at approximately 18 L/100km, it settles into a more efficient 13 L/100km during steady highway cruising. Standard service intervals occur every 10,000 km, and the model maintains a stable depreciation curve, making it a predictable asset for long-term owners.

Performance & Capability

With a maximum braked towing capacity of 4,173 kg, this Expedition is a class-leading workhorse for hauling boats or trailers. The 310 hp V8 is tuned for low-end torque, with 85% of its 495 Nm available from just 1,500 RPM, providing effortless overtaking on the E11. Its selectable 4WD system includes a dedicated low-range mode, allowing it to navigate soft sand and wadi tracks that would stop road-biased SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

This is a true 8-seater with a cabin designed to stay cool during the peak of the GCC summer, thanks to a high-output air conditioning system with dedicated vents for all three rows. The interior is focused on family logistics, featuring a massive center console and multiple cup holders in every row. Acoustic glass and thick insulation help keep the cabin quiet, isolating passengers from road noise during long-distance travel.

Safety

Safety is managed by Ford’s Personal Safety System and includes full-length side curtain airbags covering all three rows of seating. AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control (RSC) is standard, providing an essential layer of protection for a high-profile SUV by monitoring vehicle motion and applying individual brakes to prevent skidding or rollovers. The MyKey system also allows owners to set speed limits and volume caps, which is a useful feature for family-driven vehicles.

The bottom line

This low-mileage, GCC-spec Expedition is the perfect opportunity for a family or adventurer seeking heavy-duty V8 capability without the steep depreciation of a newer model. It is a well-maintained, durable workhorse that is ready for both the daily school run and cross-country expeditions.
