Summary

This GCC-spec Mitsubishi ASX is a standout choice for buyers seeking Japanese reliability in a compact, city-friendly package. As a Midline trim, it balances essential daily comforts with the model's legendary durability, making it more desirable than the basic entry-level versions. The grey exterior is a highly strategic choice for the region, offering both a sophisticated look and strong resale appeal in the secondary market. With its straightforward 2.0L engine and cooling system optimized for local temperatures, this SUV handles the intense heat of the UAE with ease. It remains one of the most practical investments for commuters and small families looking for low long-term running costs.

This Car vs Other 2013 Mitsubishi ASXs

With 170,000 km, this ASX sits within the expected range for a 2013 model in the GCC, where annual averages often reach 20,000 km. While many similar-aged rivals show signs of heavy desert use, this example’s grey finish has helped protect its visual appeal against the harsh sun. It represents a mechanically sound alternative to lower-mileage units that may lack the consistent service history typically found in GCC-spec Mitsubishi vehicles.

MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The Midline trim offers a significant step up from the base GLX Lowline, adding essential convenience features like steering wheel-mounted audio controls and premium fabric upholstery. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the upgraded climate control system and alloy wheels, which provide better aesthetic value and cooling performance compared to the steel-wheeled base variants. It strikes the perfect middle ground by offering these upgrades without the added maintenance complexity of top-tier electronic features.

ASX vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Kia Sportage or Nissan Qashqai of the same era, the ASX leads with its simpler mechanical layout, which translates to fewer long-term sensor and electrical issues. Its 63-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range for long highway drives between Emirates, often surpassing the efficiency-to-range ratio of its turbocharged competitors. The ASX also maintains a more compact footprint, making it significantly easier to park in congested areas like Dubai Marina or downtown Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 7.9 L/100km, offering a budget-friendly experience for daily commuting in stop-start traffic. Mitsubishi enjoys one of the most robust service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and widely available. The ASX historically demonstrates strong value retention in the GCC, depreciating at a slower rate than its European counterparts thanks to its reputation for bulletproof reliability in extreme heat.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine producing 150 hp, this ASX is tuned for smooth power delivery rather than aggressive sprints, making it ideal for the steady pace of UAE highways. It features a ground clearance of approximately 195 mm, which is ample for navigating speed bumps, high curbs, and the occasional gravel track during weekend outings. The automatic transmission is engineered for durability, handling the thermal stress of GCC summers without the overheating issues common in more complex dual-clutch systems.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five passengers, featuring a high seating position that provides excellent visibility for navigating fast-moving highway traffic. The air conditioning system is a highlight, specifically engineered for the GCC to reach cabin-wide cooling quickly even after the car has been parked in direct sun. With a boot capacity of 415 litres, there is plenty of room for family groceries or weekend luggage, while the acoustic insulation keeps the interior quiet during long highway stretches.

Safety

Safety is a core strength of this model, which earned a 5-star Euro NCAP rating during its production cycle. Standard safety features include multiple airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), providing stability during sudden stops on sandy or wet road surfaces. Active Stability Control (ASC) comes standard on this trim, offering an extra layer of protection during high-speed highway maneuvers.

The bottom line

This Mitsubishi ASX is the ideal match for a practical buyer who prioritizes mechanical longevity and ease of maintenance over modern gadgets. It remains a secure, high-value opportunity in the used market for anyone needing a dependable daily driver that is purpose-built for the GCC climate.
