Toyota Land Cruiser GXR V6 MODEL 2014 UPGRADE 2024

Highlights

• Selectable low-range transfer case and center locking differential
• 138-litre dual fuel tank system
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2014 Land Cruiser GXR is a hallmark of regional durability, featuring a reliable 4.0L V6 that balances off-road grit with predictable maintenance. With 140,000 km on the clock, this example has been driven significantly less than the typical 200,000+ km usually seen on 10-year-old SUVs in the UAE. Its white exterior is the gold standard for heat reflection and resale strength in the GCC, making it a safe financial choice for long-term ownership. For a buyer seeking the ultimate desert-capable family vehicle, this Land Cruiser offers a level of mechanical trust that few modern rivals can match. Whether navigating heavy Dubai traffic or crossing borders, it remains the definitive workhorse for the Gulf climate.

This Car vs Other 2014 Land Cruisers

At 140,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is notably below the GCC average for a 2014 model, which often exceeds 220,000 km due to frequent cross-emirate highway travel. The white exterior is the most preferred color in the local market, ensuring faster resale and better cabin temperature management during peak summer. This specific combination of moderate mileage and high-demand color makes it a standout entry in the current used market.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides essential upgrades over the base EXR, most notably adding a factory-fitted cool box in the center console which is a high-priority feature for GCC summers. It typically features improved interior materials, front and rear parking sensors, and a more comprehensive audio setup. These additions, combined with the GXR's enhanced exterior styling cues, command a higher premium in the used market compared to the more basic utility trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62, the Land Cruiser is often favored for its slightly more compact footprint and perceived long-term mechanical simplicity. While rivals like the Chevrolet Tahoe offer more cargo length, they lack the Land Cruiser’s legendary body-on-frame off-road hardware and specialized cooling systems designed for 50°C+ ambient temperatures. Its dual-tank system also provides a significant range advantage for long-distance desert expeditions where fuel stops are infrequent.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 13.0L/100km, though this can increase in heavy city traffic or while idling with the AC on full. Toyota's authorized service centers are available in almost every major town across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are always accessible and affordable. This model retains value exceptionally well, with the 200-series platform showing some of the lowest annual depreciation rates in the entire GCC SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine is paired with a robust 4WD system featuring a Torsen limited-slip center differential and a dedicated low-range transfer case. With a generous ground clearance of 225 mm, this vehicle is purpose-built for soft-sand dune bashing and rocky mountain trails. The automatic transmission is tuned for reliability over pure speed, providing smooth power delivery that is ideal for towing up to 3,500 kg or cruising at highway speeds across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

This seven-seater offers a versatile cabin layout with a dual-zone climate control system that features dedicated rear cooling vents to keep all passengers comfortable in extreme heat. The GXR trim includes a cooled center console box, perfect for keeping drinks chilled during long road trips. Acoustic glass and thick insulation help isolate the cabin from outside wind noise and road heat, maintaining a refined environment even during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes multiple SRS airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist. The vehicle’s heavy body-on-frame construction provides a robust safety shell, while Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) help maintain grip on both loose sand and wet asphalt. Front and rear parking sensors are included to assist in navigating large SUVs through tight city parking spaces.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC resident looking for a low-mileage, high-reliability legend that will hold its value better than almost anything else on the road. It is a turn-key solution for families who value both weekend desert capability and weekday school-run practicality.
