Highlights

• 3,500 kg braked towing capacity
• 800 mm wading depth
• 1,000 kg maximum payload

Summary

This 2015 Ford Ranger Wildtrak presents a compelling opportunity for buyers seeking a high-specification diesel workhorse with the robust 3.2L 5-cylinder engine. As the flagship trim, the Wildtrak balances heavy-duty utility with a lifestyle-oriented cabin, making it just as capable on a job site as it is for a weekend trip to the dunes. The Pride Orange exterior is the signature launch color for this generation, maintaining strong visibility and personality in the secondary market. With its GCC specification, this truck is purpose-built to handle the regional climate and long-distance desert highway runs. For a 11-year-old vehicle, it remains a segment leader in towing and hauling, providing a level of torque that newer, smaller-displacement rivals often struggle to match.

This Car vs Other 2015 Rangers

With 170,000 km on the odometer, this Ranger has been driven approximately 15,500 km per year, which is significantly below the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for commercial and utility vehicles. This moderate usage suggests the mechanical components have plenty of life left compared to high-mileage fleet examples. The signature Orange paint is the most recognizable color for this model, helping it retain interest among enthusiasts and improving resale potential.

WILDTRAK vs Lower Trims

The Wildtrak adds substantial value over the XLT, featuring a unique aerodynamic sports hoop, roof rails, and the signature dark metallic trapezoidal grille. Inside, it upgrades the experience with Wildtrak-specific leather-accented seating, an 8-inch touchscreen powered by Ford's SYNC system, and a rear-view camera as standard equipment. It also includes an electronic locking rear differential, providing superior traction in soft sand compared to base models.

Ranger vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the 2015 Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi L200, the Ranger leads the segment with a class-leading 3,500 kg towing capacity and a superior 800 mm wading depth. Its 3.2L inline-5 diesel engine offers 470 Nm of torque, providing more low-down pulling power than the 4-cylinder rivals of the same era. Additionally, the Ranger's cabin refinement and SYNC infotainment system offer a more passenger-car-like environment than the traditional work-focused interiors of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.2L diesel sits around 9.5 to 11.0 L/100km depending on the load and GCC city traffic conditions. The GCC specification ensures the cooling system and air conditioning are optimized for 45°C+ summers, a vital factor for value retention in the UAE and Saudi markets. Ford maintains a wide service network across the region, ensuring parts for the T6 platform remain readily available and affordable for long-term ownership.

Performance & Capability

The 197 hp Duratorq engine is famous for its 470 Nm of torque, enabling confident highway overtaking even when fully loaded. It features a shift-on-the-fly 4WD system with a dedicated low-range transfer case for serious off-road recovery and dune driving. With a ground clearance of approximately 235 mm and a payload of 1,000 kg, it remains one of the most capable mid-size pickups available in the used market.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance GCC road trips, featuring dual-zone climate control with powerful cooling and specific Wildtrak orange stitching throughout the interior. The five-seat configuration provides ample legroom for a family, while the acoustic glass helps insulate the cabin from engine noise and high-speed wind buffeting on the E11 highway. Multiple 12V outlets and a 230V inverter provide convenient power for tools or camping gear.

Safety

This Ranger comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill Descent Control and Hill Launch Assist, which are particularly useful on steep desert slopes. The Wildtrak trim also features a standard rear-view camera and parking sensors to manage its large footprint in city environments. Front, side, and curtain airbags provide 360-degree protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Wildtrak is the ideal choice for an outdoor enthusiast or contractor who needs maximum towing power and a high-spec cabin without the price tag of a newer model.
