Highlights

• 83-litre fuel tank capacity
• 682 litres of boot space with third row upright

Summary

This 2016 GMC Acadia SLE represents the final and most refined year of the first-generation model, offering a spacious cabin and a robust all-wheel-drive system. With 145,000 km over 10 years, its mileage is significantly lower than the GCC average of 200,000+ km for this age, marking it as a well-maintained family option. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the UAE, ensuring strong value retention for future owners. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle extreme summer heat with a powerful tri-zone climate control system that remains a segment benchmark. This crossover perfectly bridges the gap for families who need truck-like space and towing ability with a smooth, car-like driving experience.

This Car vs Other 2016 Acadias

At 145,000 km, this Acadia has been driven approximately 14,500 km per year, which is well below the typical GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km. While many examples in the market have surpassed the 200,000 km mark, this vehicle offers a mechanical advantage for those seeking long-term reliability. The black paintwork is one of the most popular colors in the region, helping it maintain a competitive edge in the used market.

SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE trim serves as a significant step up from the base SL, introducing the essential all-wheel-drive system for added stability and weekend versatility. It features the IntelliLink infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and a standard rearview camera, providing modern convenience not found on entry-level models. Additionally, the SLE includes rear park assist and a power-adjustable driver's seat, enhancing comfort for daily commuting across the Emirates.

Acadia vs Segment Rivals

The Acadia stands out against the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander by offering one of the largest cargo volumes in its class, providing 682 litres of space even with the third row in use. Its 83-litre fuel tank is specifically advantageous for long-distance cross-border drives between UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, offering superior highway range. Unlike many rivals, the Acadia’s Smart Slide second-row seating allows for much easier access to the third row, even with child seats installed.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.6L V6 (often listed as 3.5L locally) averages around 13.0 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, which is competitive for a heavy 7-seater SUV. GMC has a strong authorized service presence across major GCC cities like Dubai, Riyadh, and Kuwait City, ensuring parts are readily available and affordable. The first-generation Acadia enjoys stable value retention in the UAE, typically depreciating at 10-12% annually, outperforming many European luxury crossovers in the same age bracket.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 2,268 kg (5,000 lbs) maximum towing capacity, this Acadia is more than capable of hauling jet skis or small boats for weekend trips to the coast. The 281 hp V6 engine provides smooth power delivery for confident highway overtaking, while the all-wheel-drive system ensures grip on gravel tracks and during sudden rain showers. Its unibody construction provides a refined ride quality that absorbs road imperfections better than traditional body-on-frame SUVs like the Yukon.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for large families, featuring seven seats and dedicated rear climate control vents to keep all passengers cool during the 45°C summer months. Standard acoustic glass and thick insulation result in a quiet cabin environment, effectively blocking out road noise on long stretches of E11 or E311 highway. The 'Smart Slide' seating system allows the second row to flip and slide forward with a single handle, making the third row genuinely accessible for adults.

Safety

This Acadia comes equipped with six standard airbags and a 5-star NHTSA overall safety rating, providing peace of mind for family transport. Standard safety tech includes StabiliTrak electronic stability control with traction control, which is vital for maintaining grip on sandy or oil-slicked road surfaces. The inclusion of a high-resolution rearview camera and rear parking sensors helps navigate tight parking spots in busy urban areas like Downtown Dubai or West Bay.

The bottom line

For the GCC family seeking a low-mileage, 7-seater SUV that balances American towing power with car-like comfort, this GCC-spec Acadia in a prime resale color is an exceptional value choice.
