Summary

This 2016 Infiniti QX50 Premium represents a unique opportunity in the GCC market, offering a mechanical character that is becoming rare. With its 10 years of age, this vehicle features the legendary VQ-series 3.7L V6, providing a naturally aspirated power delivery that rivals today's smaller turbocharged engines. The Burgundy exterior is a sophisticated choice that maintains strong curb appeal while standing out from the common silver and white options across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As a Premium trim, it balances performance with a high-end cabin experience, making it an excellent choice for those who value mechanical soul alongside luxury. For the GCC buyer, this specific model is prized for its reliability in high heat and its engaging driving dynamics on well-paved highways.

This Car vs Other 2016 QX50s

At 186,000 km, the mileage on this vehicle is typical for a 10-year-old car in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes between emirates are common. While the mileage reflects active use, the 3.7L V6 is widely regarded across the region for its durability and ability to handle high-mileage cycles when properly maintained. The Burgundy finish offers a more exclusive aesthetic than the standard fleet colors, which can often help it retain interest in a crowded secondary market.

PREMIUM vs Lower Trims

The Premium trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base model, most notably adding the 11-speaker Bose premium audio system that is essential for long highway drives. It also includes the dual-occupant memory system for the driver's seat, steering wheel, and mirrors, which is a highly valued feature for families in the GCC. Furthermore, this trim introduces advanced climate control features like the Plasmacluster air purifier, specifically designed to maintain cabin air quality during dustier seasons.

QX50 vs Segment Rivals

The QX50 stands out against rivals like the Lexus NX and BMW X3 by offering a larger 3.7L displacement engine when competitors were moving toward four-cylinder turbos. It features a unique 113-inch wheelbase that was extended specifically for this model year to provide 4.3 inches of additional rear legroom, making it more family-friendly than earlier versions. The rear-biased All Wheel Drive system also provides a sportier handling characteristic than many of its front-biased segment peers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.7L V6 typically averages around 11.8 L/100km combined, which is competitive for a high-output 6-cylinder SUV. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km at authorized Infiniti centers, which are well-distributed across major GCC cities like Dubai, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi. In the local market, Infiniti models of this era benefit from a shared parts bin with Nissan, ensuring parts availability remains high and maintenance costs stay predictable. Historically, this model sees an annual depreciation of approximately 10-12% in the UAE market.

Performance & Capability

The standout figure is the 328 horsepower delivered by the naturally aspirated V6, propelling this crossover from 0-100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. This performance is perfectly suited for GCC highway driving, providing confident overtaking power and smooth acceleration at higher speeds. The All Wheel Drive system ensures stability on varying surfaces, whether navigating sandy patches on secondary roads or driving through heavy seasonal rain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a 5-seat environment focused on luxury, featuring genuine maple wood accents and leather upholstery as part of the Premium package. To combat the extreme GCC summer heat, the air conditioning system is exceptionally powerful, supplemented by rear cooling vents to keep all passengers comfortable. The acoustic insulation is designed to minimize road noise, creating a serene environment even during 120 km/h highway cruises.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a comprehensive suite of six airbags and 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS). It also includes useful tech for local conditions, such as heated outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down functionality to aid in tight parking situations. The All Wheel Drive system works in tandem with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) to provide enhanced traction and stability, crucial for maintaining control on slippery or gravel-strewn surfaces.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a luxury SUV with a 'bulletproof' engine and a premium audio experience, this QX50 is a smart, characterful choice. It offers the rare combination of high-displacement performance and proven GCC reliability at a price point that reflects its well-earned mileage.
