Summary

This 2016 Range Rover Sport SVR represents the mechanical peak of Land Rover’s performance engineering, delivering a massive 575 hp from its supercharged V8. As a 10-year-old vehicle, its mileage of 138,000 km is significantly below the average expected for its age in the GCC, suggesting a life spent largely on well-maintained arterial highways rather than in punishing stop-start city traffic. The white exterior remains the most desirable resale color in the UAE and Saudi markets, offering superior thermal reflection and enduring aesthetic appeal. While competitors prioritize road manners alone, the SVR maintains genuine Land Rover DNA with a low-range transfer case and adjustable air suspension. For the GCC owner, this is a rare opportunity to secure a high-output flagship that bridges the gap between a track-capable SUV and a cross-emirate cruiser.

This Car vs Other 2016 Range Rover Sports

At 138,000 km, this SVR has averaged roughly 13,800 km per year, which is remarkably low for a performance SUV in the GCC where annual averages typically exceed 20,000 km. While many examples from this era have been modified or heavily used, this unit’s lower-than-average mileage suggests better preservation of the sensitive supercharger and air suspension components. The white finish is a strategic advantage for local resale, consistently holding more value than darker hues in the secondary market.

SVR vs Lower Trims

The SVR is not merely an engine upgrade; it features a bespoke chassis tune from the Special Vehicle Operations division that is far more focused than the Autobiography or Supercharged trims. Inside, you receive unique SVR performance seats with higher bolsters and carbon fiber trim as standard, alongside a specialized quad-exit active exhaust system. It also includes upgraded Brembo brakes and a high-performance cooling package designed specifically to handle the extreme heat of the Gulf while maintaining peak boost.

Range Rover Sport vs Segment Rivals

The SVR competes directly with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and BMW X5 M, but it holds a distinct edge in versatility due to its standard low-range gearing and 850 mm wading depth. While German rivals offer slightly sharper cornering on asphalt, they cannot match the Land Rover’s ability to transition from a 280 km/h highway run to soft-sand desert exploration. Its upright cabin design also provides superior visibility and shoulder room for five adults compared to the more coupe-like profiles of its competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L supercharged V8 typically hovers around 18 L/100km in GCC city traffic, dropping to approximately 10 L/100km during steady highway cruising. Maintenance is essential for this high-output powertrain, with authorized service centers widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While high-performance European SUVs face steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the SVR specifically maintains a dedicated enthusiast following in the GCC, which helps stabilize its value compared to standard V6 models.

Performance & Capability

The 575 hp supercharged V8 delivers immediate torque with no lag, propelling this 2.3-ton SUV to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. Its Terrain Response 2 system automatically adjusts the air suspension and locking differentials, making it exceptionally capable for weekend desert drives or navigating gravel tracks. The 278 mm maximum ground clearance ensures you can clear obstacles that would stop most other performance-oriented crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a blend of sport and luxury, featuring 16-way power-adjustable SVR sports seats that offer excellent support during spirited drives while remaining comfortable for long cross-border trips. Standard 4-zone climate control ensures all passengers stay cool in 45°C+ summer peaks, supported by high-quality insulation that keeps the interior quiet at high speeds. The 825W Meridian Surround Sound system provides an immersive audio experience, effectively countering the aggressive growl of the V8 when cruising.

Safety

This SVR comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags, Electronic Traction Control, and Cornering Brake Control, which are vital for maintaining stability at high speeds on regional highways. Standard driver aids include Blind Spot Monitoring and Surround View cameras, which significantly simplify maneuvering in tight urban parking environments. The high-performance Brembo braking system provides the necessary stopping power to match the vehicle's immense acceleration capabilities.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC enthusiast who wants the raw power of a supercar paired with the legendary off-road poise and high-status presence that only a Range Rover Sport SVR can provide.
