Summary

This 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG represents the final era of the hand-built 5.5-litre V8, a powertrain celebrated in the GCC for its signature side-exit exhaust note and mechanical durability. While its mileage reflects the active lifestyle common for premium SUVs in the region, the black-on-black color scheme remains the most sought-after combination for resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets. As a GCC-spec model, it features the heavy-duty cooling systems required to maintain peak performance during extreme summer heat. For the buyer seeking the classic 'box' aesthetic paired with genuine AMG performance, this listing offers a well-maintained entry into a model line known for holding its value far better than its luxury rivals. It is a purpose-built icon that handles long highway stretches between emirates with as much presence as it does city traffic.

This Car vs Other 2016 G63 AMGs

At 202,512 km, this G63 has been a dedicated daily companion, which is common for GCC-owned vehicles that frequent long-distance commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While the mileage is higher than occasional weekend examples, it demonstrates the mechanical reliability of the 5.5L powertrain when maintained in local conditions. Its Obsidian Black finish is the highest-demand color in the regional used market, ensuring faster liquidity compared to rarer, more polarizing shades.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The AMG trim transforms the G-Class from a luxury off-roader into a high-performance powerhouse, adding the hand-assembled twin-turbo V8 and the unmistakable side-exit sports exhaust. Unlike the standard G500, the G63 features high-performance AMG braking systems with oversized calipers, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, and a Nappa leather interior with a microfiber Dinamica headliner. It also includes the full Chrome and Designo styling packages as standard, providing a significantly more aggressive road presence.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Range Rover Sport SVR or the Bentley Bentayga, the G63 stands alone with its traditional ladder-frame construction and three independent locking differentials. It offers a larger 96-litre fuel tank, which is a major advantage for long-distance desert highway travel where refueling stops can be sparse. While rivals focus on unibody car-like handling, the G-Class provides a commanding high-seating position and military-grade durability that remains unmatched in the luxury SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 AMG is famous for its 'value-vault' status in the GCC, typically depreciating at a much slower rate (approximately 12% annually) compared to other European luxury SUVs which can hit 18%. Fuel consumption averages around 13.8L/100km on the highway, though city driving in stop-start Dubai traffic will see this increase significantly. Maintenance is well-supported across the region with an extensive network of authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers in every major GCC city, ensuring parts availability is never a concern.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this vehicle is the 563 hp V8 engine that propels this 2.5-tonne SUV to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Its specialized off-road hardware, including a low-range transfer case and selectable locks for the front, center, and rear differentials, allows it to navigate soft sand dunes with ease. On the highway, the massive 760 Nm of torque provides effortless overtaking power, while the AMG-tuned suspension keeps the vehicle composed at its governed top speed of 210 km/h.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is a sanctuary of GCC-essential comforts, featuring multi-contour ventilated front seats and a powerful triple-zone climate control system designed for 45 degree Celsius summers. The 12-speaker Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system provides studio-quality audio, while the acoustic glass helps isolate passengers from wind noise during high-speed cruising. The upright design ensures class-leading headroom for all five passengers, making it a surprisingly practical choice for family road trips.

Safety

This G63 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite tailored for fast-moving highway traffic, including Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control and Blind Spot Assist. The standard Parktronic system with a rearview camera is essential for maneuvering the G-Class in tight urban spaces, while the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) includes trailer stabilization for secure towing. Multiple airbags, including window curtain bags, provide wrap-around protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec G63 is the perfect opportunity for an enthusiast to own the most iconic performance SUV in the world, finished in the region's most desirable color combination.
