Summary

This 2016 Toyota Prado VXR is a standout choice for GCC buyers looking for the perfect blend of legendary durability and low-mileage reliability. With only 55,000 km on the clock, this SUV has been driven significantly less than the regional annual average, making it a rare find in the pre-owned market. As the VXR trim, it offers the most premium features available for the 2.7L model year, ensuring a comfortable ownership experience in the local climate. The Black exterior remains a highly sought-after and stable resale color across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. For a buyer who prioritizes mechanical longevity and high residual value, this GCC-spec Prado represents one of the most secure automotive investments available today.

This Car vs Other 2016 Prados

At just 55,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is exceptionally low for a 2016 model, sitting well below the typical GCC average of 160,000 km for this age. While many Prados of this era have seen heavy desert use or long-distance cross-border commutes, this example has been lightly used, offering a significant mechanical advantage to the next owner. The Black exterior is a top-tier resale color in the UAE, ensuring it remains as desirable at the next sale as it is today.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim upgrades the Prado experience with premium features rarely found in the EXR or GXR variants, including leather-accented upholstery and advanced multi-zone climate control. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the VXR’s enhanced interior materials and standard cool box, which are essential for long summer drives. Additionally, this trim includes a sunroof and upgraded alloy wheels that provide a more executive road presence compared to the basic fabric-seat entry models.

Prado vs Segment Rivals

The Prado continues to lead rivals like the Mitsubishi Pajero and Ford Explorer due to its unmatched reputation for mechanical reliability in extreme heat. Its 87-litre fuel tank offers a superior highway range for driving between Emirates compared to more road-biased crossovers. While competitors may offer more complex infotainment, the Prado’s body-on-frame construction ensures it handles sand and rough gravel far better than its monocoque rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L 2TR-FE engine is renowned in the GCC for its simplicity and affordable maintenance, with service intervals typically every 10,000 km. In local stop-start traffic, fuel consumption averages between 12.5 and 14.5 L/100km, while steady highway cruising can see figures improve significantly. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from the region's largest authorized service network, and historically, it retains nearly 50-55% of its value even after several years of use.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a permanent All-Wheel Drive system, the Prado is designed to handle both urban commutes and weekend desert excursions with ease. The 2.7L engine is paired with a reliable automatic transmission that was updated for the 2016 model year to improve shifting smoothness on the highway. With a ground clearance of approximately 215 mm and a specialized low-range transfer case, it remains one of the few vehicles in its class capable of genuine off-road exploration.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for seven passengers, featuring a versatile layout that allows the rear rows to fold for increased cargo space. Special attention is paid to the GCC climate with a high-output air conditioning system and dedicated vents for the rear passengers. Acoustic insulation is standard on this trim, providing a quiet environment that shields passengers from outside road noise during long highway trips across the region.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of active and passive systems including ABS with Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control, and multiple airbags. The VXR trim also benefits from front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera to assist in tight city parking. For highway safety, cruise control and traction control come standard, providing stability and peace of mind during high-speed travel on multi-lane desert roads.

The bottom line

For the practical GCC buyer who wants the prestige of a Prado with the running costs of a 4-cylinder and the freshness of a low-mileage vehicle, this VXR listing is the ideal opportunity.
