Summary

This high-performance sedan offers a rare combination of executive refinement and visceral power that remains a benchmark in the GCC market. As a 9-year-old vehicle with 160,000 km, it sits comfortably within the expected mileage for a long-distance cruiser in this region. The black exterior is a perennial favorite in the UAE, ensuring strong demand and steady resale value compared to niche colors. This model stands out by delivering all-wheel-drive stability and a hand-assembled engine that standard luxury rivals can't match. For the GCC owner, this is a machine built to turn long desert highway hauls into effortless journeys.

This Car vs Other 2017 S63 AMGs

At 160,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is average for its age in the GCC, where annual driving typically reaches 20,000 km or more. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the local market, offering a classic look that holds value well. As an American spec vehicle, it provides a significantly more accessible entry point to the AMG flagship experience while sharing the same core mechanical DNA as its regional counterparts.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The S63 AMG is a major step up from the S500, replacing the standard air suspension with an AMG-tuned sports system and adding the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive setup as standard. Inside, it features the signature IWC analog clock and upgraded sports seats with massage and ventilation functions that are vital for the Gulf summer. It also includes the premium Burmester surround sound system, which offers a far superior audio experience compared to base units.

S63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

This model leads rivals like the BMW M760Li and Audi S8 in raw torque, with 900 Nm providing effortless overtaking ability on fast-moving UAE highways. Its cabin is widely regarded for having superior sound insulation, maintaining a quieter environment at high speeds than its more aggressively sprung competitors. The Mercedes S-Class remains the default choice for GCC executives who require the most prestigious presence on the road.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.5L biturbo V8 typically averages 10.3 L/100km on the highway, though this can rise toward 17 L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km, and Mercedes-Benz offers one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While European luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12–18% annually in the GCC, the S63 AMG retains a dedicated enthusiast following that helps stabilize its value over time.

Performance & Capability

The hand-built V8 delivers 585 hp, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 4.0 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional grip, ensuring the car feels planted during high-speed highway cruising even in gusty desert winds. Multiple drive modes allow the driver to transition from a soft, floaty ride to a sharpened, responsive performance setting at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The 4-seat configuration features a dedicated rear center console, emphasizing its status as an executive flagship. Ventilated and heated front seats are standard, providing essential cooling during the extreme heat of the Gulf summer months. The cabin is lined with premium materials and features ambient lighting and quad-zone climate control to ensure every passenger stays comfortable on long trips between Emirates.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety systems including Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, which is particularly useful for long desert highway drives. It also features blind-spot monitoring to help navigate fast-moving multi-lane traffic and the Pre-Safe system for advanced occupant protection. The inclusion of night view assist and lane-keeping technology provides additional confidence during night-time inter-city travel.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the ultimate Mercedes flagship with a hand-built heart, this S63 AMG offers incredible performance and presence for its next GCC owner.
