Summary

This 9-year-old Rolls-Royce Wraith presents a rare opportunity for GCC collectors, featuring remarkably low mileage that averages just over 3,400 km per year. While most grand tourers of this age in the region have seen extensive highway use, this Japanese-spec example has been preserved in a way that suggests it was a secondary weekend vehicle. The black-on-black color scheme is the most sought-after configuration in the UAE and wider Gulf, ensuring significantly better liquidity and value retention than lighter or two-tone alternatives. As a dedicated four-seat coupe, it offers a more intimate and driver-focused experience than the Ghost, yet it maintains the signature 'magic carpet ride' expected from the brand. For the GCC buyer, the primary consideration is the Japanese regional specification, which allows for a lower entry price while still offering the unparalleled craftsmanship of the Goodwood factory.

This Car vs Other 2017 Wraiths

With only 31,273 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits well below the typical 180,000–220,000 km expected for a 9-year-old car in the GCC. Japanese imports are noted for their high interior preservation standards, and the low usage translates to less wear on the complex air suspension components compared to higher-mileage local examples. The deep black exterior remains the gold standard for resale in Dubai and Riyadh, commanding a premium over less traditional colors.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Wraith is delivered in a singular, ultra-premium trim level where features that are optional on other luxury cars come standard, including the iconic power-closing coach doors and a 10.3-inch infotainment system. This specific example features the hand-built V12 engine and the Satellite Aided Transmission, which uses GPS data to pre-select gears for the road ahead. GCC buyers will appreciate the standard four-zone climate control and adaptive LED headlights that are essential for nighttime desert highway driving.

Wraith vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Bentley Continental GT or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, the Wraith offers significantly more rear-seat legroom and a larger 470-litre boot, making it a more practical choice for weekend trips between Emirates. Its 6.6-litre V12 provides a level of torque and effortless acceleration that smaller-displacement rivals cannot match, ensuring a serene cabin even at high cruising speeds. The presence of the Spirit of Ecstasy and the unique rear-hinged doors provide a level of occasion that no other coupe in the segment can replicate.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages roughly 14.6 L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start city traffic in Downtown Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are generally every 12 months or 10,000 km, and while Rolls-Royce authorized centers are available across major GCC cities, Japanese-spec cars typically do not carry local warranty coverage. The Wraith has shown strong value retention in the UAE recently due to its discontinued status, with black examples historically depreciating slower than the 15% annual average for European luxury coupes.

Performance & Capability

The 624 hp twin-turbo V12 delivers a massive 800 Nm of torque from just 1,500 rpm, allowing for effortless overtaking on the E11 highway. It reaches a governed top speed of 250 km/h with a level of stability that masks its 2.4-ton curb weight. The self-adjusting air suspension constantly monitors road conditions to maintain the brand's legendary ride quality over varying surfaces, from smooth city asphalt to coarser coastal roads.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the cabin is a sanctuary of natural grain leather and book-matched wood veneers, providing a level of heat insulation superior to most sports coupes. The four-seat configuration ensures each passenger has a dedicated climate zone, vital for maintaining comfort during the peak of the Gulf summer. The absence of a B-pillar and the use of thick acoustic glass creates one of the quietest automotive environments currently available on the used market.

Safety

Standard safety systems include a surround-view camera system for navigating tight parking in luxury malls and lane departure warnings for long-distance safety. The chassis features an advanced stability control system designed to handle the weight of the V12 while maintaining traction on sandy or dusty road shoulders. Adaptive cruise control and a head-up display assist in reducing driver fatigue during cross-border travel within the GCC.

The bottom line

This is a prime choice for a collector or executive seeking the prestige of a Rolls-Royce at a fraction of the original cost, benefitting from exceptionally low mileage and a high-demand color profile.
