Summary

This 9-year-old Land Cruiser GXR is a prime example of why Japanese engineering dominates the GCC used market. With mileage that reflects typical regional highway use, it remains a robust choice for families and desert enthusiasts alike. The white exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the UAE, providing excellent heat reflection and maintaining value better than any competitor. Powered by the reliable 4.0L V6, this SUV balances daily drivability with the hardware required for serious off-road weekends. It stands as a sensible investment for those prioritizing long-term durability and the peace of mind that comes with Toyota's massive regional support network.

This Car vs Other 2017 Land Cruisers

At 162,577 km, this vehicle sits at a very reasonable mileage for a 9-year-old SUV in the GCC, where the average annual use typically hits 20,000 km or more. The white paint is a strategic advantage for local buyers, offering the highest demand and fastest turnover in the pre-owned market. Compared to others of its age, this GCC-spec example benefits from cooling systems designed specifically for the extreme temperatures of the Middle East.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant step up from the base EXR, adding highly valued features for the regional climate like a factory-fitted cooler box in the center console. It also upgrades the exterior with 18-inch alloy wheels and adds chrome detailing that is a hallmark of the GXR's premium road presence. Inside, you benefit from additional convenience features like cruise control and a multi-information display that aren't always standard on entry-level models.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Nissan Patrol V6 or the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Land Cruiser leads with its massive 138-litre fuel tank, which is essential for long-distance desert crossings and cross-border road trips. Its body-on-frame construction is widely regarded as the most durable in the segment, suffering less from the long-term vibrations of sand and gravel driving. Furthermore, the Land Cruiser's resale value in the UAE remains the gold standard, often retaining double the percentage of its original price compared to American rivals after a decade.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.0L V6 typically averages around 13.4 L/100km, making it a predictable performer in GCC traffic and highway cruising. Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward, with authorized service centers available in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Parts are widely available and affordable, contributing to one of the lowest total costs of ownership in the large SUV category. This model year enjoys a stable depreciation curve, making it a safe financial choice for a multi-year ownership period.

Performance & Capability

The 200 hp V6 engine provides reliable power, paired with a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system that includes a low-range transfer case and Crawl Control. This hardware allows it to tackle soft dunes and rocky wadis with ease, while the 225 mm of ground clearance ensures you clear obstacles that stop lesser crossovers. On the highway, the 4.0L engine offers a smooth, quiet cruise that makes long trips between emirates effortless for all passengers.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured for five passengers with a focus on spaciousness and thermal comfort, featuring a powerful air conditioning system that is legendary for its ability to cool the interior rapidly in 45°C heat. The GXR trim includes a cooled center console, perfect for keeping drinks chilled during summer drives. Dedicated rear vents ensure that all passengers stay comfortable, while the cabin's insulation provides a quiet environment away from road and wind noise.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a suite of features including ABS, Brake Assist, and stability control systems specifically tuned for low-grip surfaces like sand. It features multiple airbags and ISOFIX points for child seats, making it a trusted family vehicle. The inclusion of parking sensors and a robust braking system provides confidence in both tight city parking and high-speed highway situations common on the E11.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser is the ideal match for a buyer seeking the ultimate balance of regional reliability and strong resale value. It is a workhorse ready for another decade of GCC service.
