Summary

This 2017 Land Cruiser GXR is a standout find in the GCC market, combining the rare and highly sought-after 4.5L V8 diesel engine with exceptionally low mileage for a nine-year-old vehicle. Finished in black, a strong choice for local resale, it offers the ultimate balance of long-range efficiency and legendary off-road durability. The diesel powertrain provides significant torque for desert climbs and towing, while the GCC specification ensures maximum cooling performance for the region's harsh summers. For a buyer seeking the reliability of the 200-series platform without the high fuel costs of the petrol V8, this is one of the most mechanically sound opportunities available today.

This Car vs Other 2017 Land Cruisers

At just over 71,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, which would place a standard 2017 model closer to 200,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the UAE and Saudi markets, bolstering its long-term resale value compared to less traditional shades. Finding a 200-series with this mileage and the robust diesel V8 is a rare buying advantage in the current used market.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a substantial equipment upgrade over the entry-level GX, featuring essential GCC comforts like a powered driver seat and a high-quality infotainment system. Most importantly for local drivers, the GXR includes advanced off-road hardware like Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control as standard, alongside improved cabin materials that offer a more premium feel during long highway drives between emirates.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads in long-term value retention and the availability of a diesel V8 option, which is preferred by overlanders for its superior range. While the Chevrolet Tahoe offers similar cabin space, the Land Cruiser's body-on-frame construction and dedicated low-range transfer case make it a far more capable tool for serious desert expeditions and heavy-duty towing across the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.5L diesel V8 offers a fuel consumption advantage over its petrol counterparts, averaging approximately 10.7L/100km, which significantly extends cruising range during cross-border drives. As a Toyota, this vehicle benefits from the most extensive authorized service network in the GCC, ensuring parts and expert maintenance are available in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. Land Cruisers typically depreciate at just 8–10% annually in the local market, making this one of the safest financial investments in the SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The twin-turbo diesel V8 produces 271 hp and a massive 650 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless highway overtaking even when fully loaded. With a 3,500 kg braked towing capacity and a sophisticated All-Wheel Drive system with low-range gearing, it is purpose-built for both heavy utility and weekend desert adventures. Its high ground clearance and optimized approach angles ensure it can navigate steep dunes and rocky wadis that would challenge most modern crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured as a 7-seater, the cabin is designed for large family logistics with a high-output air conditioning system specifically tuned for 45°C+ GCC summers. The GXR trim includes dedicated rear climate vents to ensure all three rows stay cool, alongside a spacious interior that remains remarkably quiet even at high highway speeds. The fold-away third row allows for flexible cargo space, ideal for camping trips or long-distance road tours.

Safety

This GXR comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control (TRC) to maintain composure on shifting sand and gravel surfaces. Standard features like Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and a rear-view camera provide extra confidence during city parking and technical off-road maneuvers, ensuring peace of mind for family travel across the GCC.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, diesel-powered 200-series Land Cruiser that perfectly bridges the gap between a rugged workhorse and a refined family SUV for the GCC climate.
