Summary

This 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR is a quintessential GCC choice, combining the heavy-duty durability of a 4.6L V8 with a white exterior that remains the most sought-after resale color in the region. With 112,000 km, the mileage is lower than average for a 2017 model in this market, where these vehicles are known to easily exceed 300,000 km with routine care. As the VXR trim, it offers the highest level of cabin refinement and off-road technology available for this model year, providing a more premium experience than the common GXR versions. It stands out from rivals like the Nissan Patrol through its superior long-term value retention and a mechanical reputation for withstanding extreme desert heat. For any buyer in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, this Land Cruiser represents the gold standard of reliability and cross-border travel comfort.

This Car vs Other 2017 Land Cruisers

At 112,000 km, this vehicle's mileage is significantly lower than the typical 160,000–200,000 km seen on many 2017 units in the GCC used market. The white exterior is a major advantage for local buyers, offering maximum heat reflection during summer and commanding the highest demand at resale. This specific unit represents a well-preserved example of the V8 200-series, which is increasingly favored for its mechanical simplicity compared to newer turbocharged generations.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim adds critical luxury and technology features that the GXR and EXR trims lack, including a 360-degree camera system and an upgraded 9-inch infotainment display. It provides a more sophisticated interior with premium leather upholstery and four-zone climate control, ensuring all eight passengers stay cool in the desert heat. Additionally, the VXR typically includes more advanced off-road hardware such as Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control as standard.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser is primarily cross-shopped against the Nissan Patrol and the Chevrolet Tahoe, where it leads in long-term value retention and parts availability across the entire GCC. While rivals may offer softer on-road rides, the Land Cruiser's body-on-frame construction provides a level of durability for desert driving that is unmatched in the segment. Its cooling system is widely considered the most effective for maintaining cabin comfort during extreme 45C+ temperatures.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.6L V8 typically averages around 14.5 L/100km, which is competitive for a vehicle of this size and weight in GCC highway conditions. Maintenance is straightforward with a massive network of authorized service centers available in every major city from Dubai to Riyadh. The Land Cruiser historically has one of the lowest depreciation rates in the UAE, often retaining significantly more value after five years than its European or American competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp V8 engine provides a smooth, torque-rich experience that makes highway overtaking effortless and provides the necessary grunt for climbing high dunes. Its full-time four-wheel-drive system and low-range transfer case allow it to tackle technical off-road terrain that would stop most modern crossovers. With a high ground clearance and a robust suspension setup, it is purpose-built for long-distance desert expeditions and heavy family loads.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat layout is highly versatile, featuring a spacious second row and a third row that can be folded away to accommodate large amounts of cargo for weekend trips. The GCC-spec air conditioning is exceptionally powerful, featuring dedicated rear vents and a cooled center console box to keep beverages cold during long drives. Acoustic glass and thick insulation help keep the cabin quiet, isolating passengers from road noise and the harsh outside environment.

Safety

The VXR trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including ten airbags and advanced driver assistance systems such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. For high-speed highway driving common in the GCC, the adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning provide an extra layer of security. Its stable footprint and sophisticated traction control systems ensure reliable handling on both slippery sand and rain-slicked tarmac.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser is the ideal opportunity for a family or enthusiast looking for a high-spec, low-mileage V8 that offers total peace of mind and the strongest resale security in the GCC market.
