Summary

This 2017 Toyota RAV4 VX represents a highly reliable choice for GCC buyers looking for a dependable family crossover with a premium touch. As the top-tier VX trim, it offers significantly more comfort than base models, featuring leather upholstery and a power sunroof that enhances the cabin experience. With 122,582 km on the clock, this SUV has been driven approximately 13,600 km per year, which is remarkably low for a vehicle of its age in a region where 25,000 km is the annual norm. White is the most sought-after resale color in the UAE, ensuring this vehicle will hold its value exceptionally well for the next owner. For those prioritizing peace of mind, Toyota's unmatched service network across the Emirates makes maintenance straightforward and affordable.

This Car vs Other 2017 RAV4s

At 9 years old with just over 122,000 km, this RAV4 has significantly lower mileage than the typical 180,000 to 225,000 km usually seen on similar models in the GCC. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering superior heat reflection and the strongest possible resale demand. This combination of low annual usage and a high-demand color makes it a standout listing in the current used market.

VX vs Lower Trims

The VX trim elevates the RAV4 experience beyond the standard EX or GXR variants by adding premium features like leather-trimmed seats, a power sunroof, and a more advanced infotainment screen with a built-in navigation system. It also includes upgraded alloy wheels and dual-zone automatic climate control, ensuring every passenger stays comfortable during the peak of the GCC summer.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

While cross-shopped with the Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 leads the segment in long-term reliability and ease of repair in the Gulf region. Its 2.5L engine is specifically tuned for durability in extreme heat, and it retains a higher percentage of its value after five years compared to almost any other compact SUV in the UAE market.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.5L powertrain typically ranges between 8.0 and 9.5 L/100km, offering a practical balance for both Dubai city traffic and long highway stretches to Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km, and with Al-Futtaim's extensive network, parts are always readily available. The RAV4 is a local legend for value retention, typically depreciating at a much slower rate than its European or American competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 176 hp engine provides smooth, linear power that is perfectly suited for highway overtaking and confident city commuting. Despite being a front-wheel-drive model, it maintains a generous ground clearance that handles high speed bumps and gravel access roads with ease. The 6-speed automatic transmission is renowned for its longevity, designed to withstand the stop-start nature of GCC urban driving without overheating.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with GCC family life in mind, featuring high-output air conditioning and rear cooling vents to maintain a pleasant temperature even in 45-degree heat. The leather seats in the VX trim are durable and easy to maintain, while the 547-liter boot provides ample space for grocery runs or weekend staycation luggage. Acoustic glass helps keep the interior quiet, shielding passengers from road noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

This VX trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control to ensure stability on sandy or rain-slicked roads. It features a high-resolution rear-view camera and parking sensors, which are essential for navigating tight mall parking spaces. The build quality and 5-star safety heritage of the RAV4 provide a secure environment for family transport across the Emirates.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a value-conscious family or professional seeking a premium-trim SUV that is effectively ‘broken in’ but far from tired. Its combination of the high-spec VX trim, low mileage for its age, and a GCC-favorite color makes it one of the safest bets in the used market today.
