Summary

This 2016 RAV4 VX is a prime example of Toyota’s legendary durability, offering a balanced 2.5L powertrain that is perfectly suited for the region’s long-distance driving. As a VX trim in silver, it occupies the most desirable spot in the local used market for resale value and heat reflection. It bridges the gap between a compact footprint and a remarkably spacious cabin, making it an ideal choice for families navigating both city traffic and weekend getaways. The combination of GCC-specific cooling and the reliability of a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine makes this a low-risk, high-reward investment for long-term ownership. For a buyer seeking the ultimate peace of mind in the UAE, this RAV4 stands as the gold standard in the crossover segment.

This Car vs Other 2016 RAV4s

With 152,106 km, this vehicle sits below the average annual mileage typically seen for a decade-old SUV in the GCC. Silver is one of the highest-retained colors in the local market, offering excellent visibility and heat management during the summer months. Choosing a GCC-spec model ensures the cooling systems and air conditioning are designed specifically for the extreme temperatures of the Middle East.

VX vs Lower Trims

The VX trim upgrades the ownership experience significantly over the base EX, adding 17-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, and front fog lamps as standard. Inside, you benefit from dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, features that provide a premium feel and better cabin comfort compared to the standard urethane and manual AC found in lower grades.

RAV4 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail, the RAV4 leads with a massive 1,085-litre cargo capacity with the rear seats in place. Its 60-litre fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance travel between emirates, and Toyota's larger engine displacement offers more relaxed highway cruising than the smaller naturally aspirated engines found in some competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.5L FWD powertrain averages 9.0L/100km in combined driving, dropping to 7.7L/100km on the highway. Toyota holds the strongest value retention in the GCC market, typically depreciating at a significantly slower rate than European or American rivals. Authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring affordable maintenance and easy parts availability.

Performance & Capability

The 176 hp engine is paired with a smooth 6-speed automatic transmission, delivering a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 9.7 seconds. While optimized for fuel efficiency and city roads, the Front Wheel Drive layout provides a lighter, more agile feel for daily commuting across Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Its ground clearance is ample for navigating gravel tracks and high speed-bumps commonly encountered in residential areas.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seater layout is designed for family utility, featuring a low load floor for easy cargo access and a genuinely spacious second row with reclining seatbacks. The VX trim’s automatic climate control system is exceptionally powerful, ensuring the cabin reaches a comfortable temperature quickly even in 45°C heat. Acoustic insulation was improved for this model year, providing a quieter environment during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of active systems including Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) standard on the VX trim. The car is equipped with multiple airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors, along with a standard rearview camera that makes parking in tight urban spaces simple and safe. These features helped this generation earn high safety marks in international testing.

The bottom line

This RAV4 VX is the perfect match for a sensible GCC buyer who prioritizes resale stability and legendary reliability over flashy tech. It is a rare opportunity to secure a high-trim Japanese crossover that is mechanically sound and perfectly specified for the local climate.
