Summary

This 2018 Challenger SXT is a standout entry into the muscle car segment, offering the iconic wide-body silhouette with the more practical Pentastar V6 powertrain. While V8 variants are common, the V6 SXT is highly sought after in the GCC for its balance of daily usability and lower running costs. The grey exterior is a versatile, high-demand choice in the local market, ensuring it holds its visual appeal and resale value better than more eccentric colors. For a buyer in the UAE or wider Gulf, this specific listing represents a bridge between heritage styling and modern efficiency, making it an ideal choice for those who want the presence of a Challenger without the fuel overhead of a Hemi. With its refined 8-speed automatic, it handles both congested city traffic and the long highway stretches between emirates with ease.

This Car vs Other 2018 Challengers

At 127,000 km, this Challenger has seen consistent road use that aligns with typical GCC annual averages of 20,000–25,000 km for a daily-driven coupe. While many regional Challengers are pushed to their limits on weekend tracks, V6 models like this often serve as highway commuters, which typically results in less mechanical stress. The grey exterior is a top-tier resale color in the UAE market, significantly easier to sell on than the high-impact purple or orange shades often found on this model.

SXT vs Lower Trims

The SXT serves as the primary gateway into the Challenger lineup, and for the 2018 model year, it received significant tech upgrades over previous base iterations. It standardizes the Uconnect 4 multimedia system, which is a must-have for UAE drivers who rely on Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for real-time navigation. Unlike older base trims, the 2018 SXT also includes a ParkView rearview camera and dual-zone automatic climate control as standard, which are essential for managing both tight parking in Dubai and the intense summer heat.

Challenger vs Segment Rivals

The Challenger leads the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro when it comes to cabin volume and grand touring comfort, being the only one in the trio to offer a genuinely usable three-passenger rear seat. Its 70-liter fuel tank is well-suited for long cross-border drives across the GCC, offering a longer cruising range than its rivals. While the Mustang and Camaro focus on agility, the Challenger’s longer wheelbase provides superior stability and comfort during high-speed highway cruising.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 is one of the most reliable engines in the Stellantis portfolio, with a massive parts ecosystem and authorized service centers available across all major GCC cities from Dubai to Riyadh. Real-world fuel economy is approximately 10–12 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, which is significantly more efficient than the V8 alternatives in stop-start traffic. As a Canadian spec import, this vehicle offers a high feature-to-price ratio, though buyers should note that resale prices typically sit 10–15% below GCC-spec equivalents. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km to ensure the engine and transmission stay cooled in the local climate.

Performance & Capability

The 305 hp output allows this Challenger to reach 100 km/h in approximately 6.2 to 6.5 seconds, providing plenty of power for confident highway overtaking in the UAE. The 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, keeping revs low during cruising to maximize fuel efficiency. Rear-wheel drive dynamics maintain the classic muscle car feel, while the heavy-duty cooling systems typical of the Pentastar engine help maintain performance even as ambient temperatures rise.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Challenger offers a surprisingly quiet and insulated environment, filtering out road noise during long-distance travel. The dual-zone climate control is powerful enough to maintain a cool cabin during the peak of summer, supported by rear AC vents which are a rarity in two-door coupes. The seating is designed for 'North American' proportions, meaning wider, more cushioned chairs that offer significantly more comfort for long-legged drivers compared to European sports cars.

Safety

The 2018 Challenger comes equipped with a solid suite of safety features, including advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental side-curtain airbags, and electronic stability control. The inclusion of Brake Assist and Ready Alert Braking is particularly helpful on fast GCC highways where sudden stops are common. It also features a tire pressure monitoring system, an important safety check for the high track temperatures encountered on desert roads.

The bottom line

This 2018 Challenger SXT is the perfect match for a driver who values the iconic American muscle aesthetic but requires the practicality and fuel efficiency of a modern V6 for daily GCC commuting.
