Ford Mustang STANDARD

Highlights

• 300 hp from a 3.7L naturally aspirated V6
• Limited-slip rear differential standard
• Track-capable independent rear suspension

Summary

This 2015 Mustang represents the first year of the S550 generation, introducing the much-improved independent rear suspension that transformed its handling. While many examples in the GCC are high-mileage American imports, this is a genuine GCC spec car, ensuring the cooling system and radio are optimized for the region. The Competition Orange finish is a signature performance color that holds strong demand among enthusiast buyers in the UAE. Powered by the reliable 3.7L Cyclone V6, it offers the classic pony car aesthetic with more manageable daily running costs. For those seeking an entry point into the Mustang legacy, this generation’s interior refinement makes it a far superior daily driver compared to older models.

This Car vs Other 2015 Mustangs

With 180,000 km, this Mustang has been driven an average of 20,000 km annually, which aligns perfectly with typical GCC highway use. Unlike many American-spec imports that dominate the local market at this price point, this GCC-spec unit offers better peace of mind regarding service history and radiator capacity. The Orange exterior is a high-visibility choice that remains popular for resale in the local sports car segment.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The 2015 model year marked the introduction of standard SelectShift paddle shifters for the automatic transmission, giving drivers more direct control on winding roads. This trim features the refined 3.7L V6 with a limited-slip differential, providing better traction out of corners than basic rear-wheel-drive rivals. It also includes the updated Ford SYNC system and Track Apps as standard, allowing you to monitor performance metrics directly from the dashboard.

Mustang vs Segment Rivals

The Mustang V6 leads rivals like the Chevrolet Camaro V6 in daily usability, offering a more airy cabin with significantly better outward visibility for navigating Dubai traffic. Its independent rear suspension provides a more composed ride over highway joints than older Dodge Challengers, making it a better long-distance commuter. Additionally, the 3.7L engine is known for its durability and ease of maintenance at independent garages across the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.2 L/100km, making it more efficient for city commuting than the V8 alternatives. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, and with the extensive Al Tayer and Premier Motors network in the UAE, parts are readily available and affordable. The Mustang maintains stable resale value in the GCC, typically depreciating at a slower rate than European sports coupes due to its mechanical simplicity and iconic status.

Performance & Capability

The 3.7L V6 delivers a stout 300 horsepower, allowing for a top speed that is electronically limited to 195 km/h. The 2015 generation’s new chassis architecture means it handles mid-corner bumps with a level of sophistication previously reserved for high-end European cars. On the long desert highways between Emirates, the steering weight can be adjusted through three selectable modes to suit your driving preference.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric cockpit with a tilt and telescoping steering column and metallic accent toggles that pay homage to aviation design. Despite being a coupe, the four-seat layout provides enough space for short trips with extra passengers or significant interior storage. The powerful GCC-spec air conditioning is specifically tuned to reach target cabin temperatures quickly, even during the peak of the UAE summer.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive for this generation, featuring a full suite of airbags including a driver’s knee airbag and side-curtain protection. AdvanceTrac electronic stability control is standard, which is vital for maintaining grip during rare rainy days or on sandy road surfaces. The inclusion of integrated blind-spot mirrors also assists with safe lane changes on busy multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Mustang is the ideal choice for a buyer looking for iconic American style and modern handling without the high fuel costs of a V8. It stands out as a reliable, locally-optimized daily driver that remains a head-turner in its signature orange finish.
