Summary

This 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is a masterclass in naturally aspirated performance, representing the final era of non-hybrid, non-turbo V12 flagships from Maranello. Clad in Ferrari's signature red, it offers a strong resale profile in the GCC market where bold heritage colors remain highly liquid. The European specification is well-regarded locally, though buyers should verify the remaining balance of the transferable 7-year maintenance program. Compared to rivals like the Lamborghini Aventador S, the 812 provides a more refined grand touring experience without sacrificing raw power. For the serious GCC collector, this is a rare opportunity to own one of the most powerful road-going engines ever produced before the industry's shift toward electrification.

This Car vs Other 2018 812s

While typical GCC annual mileage for high-end grand tourers ranges between 5,000 and 10,000 km, many 812s serve as weekend icons, often showing lower use. This red example sits in the most desirable color bracket for the UAE and Saudi markets, ensuring it stands out against less traditional shades. The 2018 model year is particularly sought after as it avoids the GPF filters found on later European-market iterations, offering a purer exhaust note.

SUPERFAST vs Lower Trims

As the flagship V12 Berlinetta, the Superfast sits at the top of Ferrari's series production hierarchy, significantly outclassing the V8-powered 488 of the same era. It introduced 'Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0' rear-wheel steering and electric power steering, technologies that make this large GT feel remarkably agile on tight city roads. Inside, the Superfast adds a dedicated passenger-side display and a revised cockpit layout that makes it far more tech-forward than its F12 predecessor.

812 vs Segment Rivals

The 812 Superfast leads the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera in high-rev urgency, with its naturally aspirated V12 redlining at a staggering 8,900 RPM. Compared to the Lamborghini Aventador S, the Ferrari offers a significantly more usable 92-liter fuel tank and superior luggage space, making it better suited for cross-border GCC drives. Its dual-clutch transmission is also smoother in Dubai's stop-start traffic than the single-clutch systems found in mid-engine rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 16.1 L/100km on a combined cycle, though GCC highway cruising can be more efficient. The 812 benefits from Ferrari's 7-year Genuine Maintenance program, which is transferable to new owners and covers all scheduled annual services at authorized centers like Al Tayer in the UAE. Value retention for naturally aspirated V12 Ferraris is exceptionally strong in the region, with the 812 generally depreciating at a slower rate than its V8 stablemates due to its 'last-of-a-kind' status.

Performance & Capability

The 812 Superfast delivers 789 hp and 718 Nm of torque, enabling a blistering 0-200 km/h time of just 7.9 seconds. Its rear-wheel-drive chassis is managed by the side-slip control (SSC 5.0) system, which provides immense confidence when navigating mountain passes like Jebel Jais. The active aerodynamics at the rear adjust to balance downforce and drag, ensuring the car remains remarkably planted during high-speed highway overtaking.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cabin is a focused blend of Italian leather and ergonomic precision, featuring revised seats designed for long-distance comfort. The air conditioning is robust, a necessity for the GCC climate, and the insulation from road noise is noticeably improved over previous generations. A high-resolution digital instrument cluster keeps the driver informed, while the passenger display allows the co-driver to monitor speed and revs in real-time.

Safety

Safety is managed through an advanced suite of stability and traction controls specifically tuned for a front-mid engine layout. High-performance carbon-ceramic brakes come standard, offering fade-free stopping power even in extreme summer temperatures. The 812 also features front and side airbags along with a highly reinforced space-frame chassis for maximum occupant protection during spirited driving.

The bottom line

This 812 Superfast is the ideal acquisition for a GCC enthusiast seeking the ultimate expression of the naturally aspirated V12 before it disappears from the production line.
