Summary

This GMC Acadia SLE represents a balanced entry into the three-row family SUV segment, offering a strong 3.6L V6 engine that is well-suited for the high-speed highway demands of the UAE. With a black exterior that maintains strong resale appeal in the regional market, this vehicle bridges the gap between a standard crossover and a full-size hauler. Its mileage is consistent with average use for a 2018 model in the GCC, where long-distance commutes between emirates are common. The Acadia stands out for its car-like handling and premium styling compared to more utilitarian rivals. For a GCC buyer, the primary consideration is the proven reliability of the General Motors V6 powertrain and the convenience of a vast regional service network.

This Car vs Other 2018 GMC Acadias

At 124,000 km, this Acadia falls within the average usage range for a six-year-old vehicle in the GCC, typically seeing 20,000 to 25,000 km annually. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local used market, often commanding faster turnaround times and better price retention than niche colors. As a GCC-spec model, it bypasses the compatibility and insurance hurdles often associated with imported North American salvage titles.

SLE vs Lower Trims

The SLE trim serves as a significant upgrade over the base SL, introducing essential regional features like rear park assist and the 8-inch GMC Infotainment System. It adds refined exterior touches including LED daytime running lamps and silver roof rails, which are highly valued by buyers in this segment. This trim level also provides the flexibility of a seven-seat layout, ensuring the cabin is practical for large families or school runs.

Acadia vs Segment Rivals

The Acadia competes directly with the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander, leading with a more premium 'Professional Grade' interior aesthetic and a standard V6 that outmuscles many entry-level four-cylinder rivals. Its 83-litre fuel tank is a specific advantage for long cross-border drives, offering greater range than several compact competitors. The monocoque construction ensures it remains easier to park and more fuel-efficient in city traffic than body-on-frame alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.6L V6 typically averages around 10.5 L/100km on highways, though GCC city traffic may see this rise. Service intervals are standardized at 10,000 km across a massive network of authorized centers like Al Ghandi and Bin Hamoodah, ensuring parts are always readily available. The Acadia follows a predictable depreciation curve for American SUVs in the region, generally retaining roughly 50-55% of its value after five years.

Performance & Capability

The 310 hp V6 engine provides a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 6.8 seconds, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. While designed primarily for road use, the Acadia offers a comfortable 183 mm of ground clearance, suitable for gravel paths and light weekend camping trips. The automatic transmission is tuned for smooth shifts, prioritizing passenger comfort during long-distance travel between major GCC cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a versatile 2-3-2 seating configuration with a flat-folding third row that expands cargo volume to 2,237 litres when needed. Standard multi-zone climate control is engineered to handle extreme summer temperatures, with dedicated vents ensuring consistent cooling for all seven passengers. Acoustic laminated glass and active noise cancellation provide a quiet environment, shielding the interior from wind noise during high-speed desert drives.

Safety

This SLE trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a Rear Vision Camera and Rear Park Assist to simplify maneuvering in tight urban spaces. Standard features include the Teen Driver system, which allows owners to set speed alerts and volume limits, alongside a full array of seven airbags. The passenger sensing system and StabiliTrak electronic stability control provide essential protection during sudden maneuvers on sand-dusted road surfaces.

The bottom line

Ideal for growing families who need a reliable seven-seater that doesn't feel like a bus, this GCC-spec Acadia offers the perfect balance of V6 power and local market desirability.
