Summary

This 2018 Honda CR-V Touring is a standout opportunity in the GCC market, offering a rare combination of exceptionally low mileage and top-tier trim features. At 8 years old, its 37,000 km odometer reading is less than a quarter of what is typically expected for a vehicle of this age in the region, signaling minimal mechanical wear. As the premium Touring trim, it provides a more refined cabin experience compared to rivals like the Toyota RAV4, specifically in its noise insulation and seat comfort. The grey exterior remains a highly practical and desirable choice for resale across the UAE and wider GCC, effectively masking desert dust. For any buyer prioritizing long-term reliability and high equipment levels in a compact SUV, this is a benchmark choice.

This Car vs Other 2018 CR-Vs

While most 2018 models in the GCC market have exceeded the 160,000 km mark due to heavy highway commuting between emirates, this example has covered just 37,000 km. This ultra-low usage places it in the top tier of available pre-owned stock, offering the mechanical integrity of a much newer vehicle. The grey paintwork is a neutral, high-demand color in the region, ensuring better value retention than more niche shades.

TOURING vs Lower Trims

The Touring trim elevates the CR-V from a standard commuter to a premium crossover by adding features essential for GCC comfort, such as a hands-free power tailgate and a 331-watt premium audio system. Unlike the base LX or EX models, the Touring exclusively features rain-sensing wipers and factory-integrated navigation. It also upgrades the interior with driver's seat memory and premium leather-trimmed seating, which holds up better against high cabin temperatures.

CR-V vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5, the CR-V leads the segment in total passenger volume and rear legroom, making it the preferred choice for family use in the GCC. Its 589-litre boot capacity is significantly more practical than many rivals for weekend trips to Oman or cross-country drives. While the CX-5 focuses on sportier handling, the CR-V offers a more compliant ride quality that excels on the UAE's long, straight highways.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.4L naturally aspirated engine is highly regarded in the GCC for its simplicity and tolerance to local fuel grades compared to newer turbocharged units. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 8.5L/100km on highways, providing a generous range from the 57-litre tank. Honda's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman ensures parts are readily available and affordable. The CR-V maintains one of the strongest residual values in its class, typically retaining over 55% of its value after five years.

Performance & Capability

Producing 188 hp, the 2.4L i-VTEC engine provides smooth and predictable power delivery, which is ideal for merging into fast-moving traffic on the E11. The Real Time All-Wheel Drive system with Intelligent Control offers added stability during the UAE's occasional heavy winter rains and provides confidence on graded gravel tracks. With a ground clearance of approximately 208 mm, it easily clears high speed bumps and urban obstacles without compromising its composed on-road manners.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance GCC road trips, featuring dual-zone automatic climate control with dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during summer. The Touring trim's acoustic glass significantly reduces wind noise at highway speeds, creating a quiet environment for the premium 9-speaker audio system. Innovative 'one-motion' folding rear seats allow for immediate expansion of the cargo area, easily accommodating large family shopping trips or camping gear.

Safety

Safety is a hallmark of this trim, which earned a 5-star rating from the NHTSA. Standard equipment includes the Honda Sensing suite, providing adaptive cruise control for relaxed desert highway driving and a lane-keeping assist system. It also features a multi-angle rearview camera and six airbags as standard, offering comprehensive protection that many segment competitors only offered as optional extras in 2018.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer seeking a 'like-new' mechanical experience in a proven, high-spec SUV, this low-mileage Touring trim is an unbeatable alternative to buying a new entry-level crossover.
