Summary

This 2018 Infiniti QX80 represents a compelling entry into the full-size luxury segment, particularly for those seeking the flagship Luxe Sensory ProActive trim without the premium of a new model. With 120,000 km, the mileage is perfectly average for an 8-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where highway-heavy commutes are standard. The Grey exterior is a resilient choice for the local market, offering easier maintenance in dusty conditions and holding steady resale demand. While other luxury SUVs can feel delicate, the QX80 is a body-on-frame powerhouse that shares its DNA with the legendary Nissan Patrol. For a GCC buyer, this means a proven mechanical foundation and a massive cabin that remains one of the most comfortable for long-distance family travel.

This Car vs Other 2018 QX80s

With 120,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven approximately 15,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the 20,000–25,000 km average typical for large SUVs in the GCC. The Grey exterior is highly practical for the region's climate, hiding dust better than black and maintaining higher resale interest than unconventional colors. As an American spec model, it offers a high-specification interior often featuring tech packages that were optional in other markets.

LUXE SENSORY PROACTIVE vs Lower Trims

The Luxe Sensory ProActive is the definitive high-spec configuration for 2018, adding the crucial Hydraulic Body Motion Control system which dramatically reduces body roll during highway cornering. Inside, it upgrades the experience with a 15-speaker Bose Cabin Surround system, ventilated front seats, and the Advanced Climate Control system with Plasmacluster technology. It also includes the full ProActive safety suite, featuring Intelligent Cruise Control and Blind Spot Intervention, which are essential for fast-moving UAE highway traffic.

QX80 vs Segment Rivals

The QX80 is often cross-shopped with the Lexus LX 570 and Cadillac Escalade, leading the segment in pure passenger comfort and 'sofa-like' seat cushioning. While the Lexus focuses on extreme off-road hardware, the Infiniti offers a more refined on-road V8 experience and a larger interior volume for second and third-row passengers. Its 98-litre fuel tank provides excellent range for long-distance drives between Emirates or across GCC borders.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.6L V8 typically returns around 14.5L/100km in combined driving, though GCC city traffic can push this higher. As a flagship Japanese-engineered SUV, it benefits from a wide network of specialized service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, though as an American spec car, owners should verify parts compatibility for trim-specific electronics. Historically, the QX80 sees a depreciation rate of roughly 12-15% annually in the local market, offering a more stable value proposition than its European counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp V8 delivers a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 and other major highways. Its All-Wheel Drive system includes a dedicated low-range transfer case, making it surprisingly capable for weekend sand driving and desert camping trips. With a braked towing capacity of approximately 3,850 kg, it is also one of the most capable vehicles in the region for hauling jet skis or horse trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The Sensory trim features semi-aniline quilted leather and a 7-seat layout with second-row captain's chairs, creating an executive lounge feel for middle-row passengers. The tri-zone climate control is exceptionally powerful, designed to reach the third row effectively during peak summer heat. Additional luxuries like the dual 8-inch rear entertainment screens and a cooled center console make it an ideal choice for large families prioritizing comfort on long road trips.

Safety

This ProActive trim is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite that includes Predictive Forward Collision Warning, which can 'see' two cars ahead, and Backup Collision Intervention. The standard 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection is a necessity for navigating this large SUV through tight parking spaces in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It also features Lane Departure Prevention and Blind Spot Warning, providing a high level of active protection for all occupants.

The bottom line

This QX80 is the ideal pick for a family buyer who wants the highest possible luxury spec and a bulletproof V8 engine at a significantly more accessible price point than a GCC-spec equivalent.
