Summary

This 2018 Kia Sportage EX offers the ideal balance of mileage and age for the UAE market, having covered an average of approximately 17,000 km per year, which is well below the regional average of 20,000–25,000 km. Finished in a versatile Blue, this SUV is a staple on GCC roads, largely due to its proven reliability and high resale demand in the secondary market. The EX trim significantly elevates the cabin experience over the base models, making it a more comfortable choice for the long highway commutes between Emirates. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is built to handle the intense local summer heat with an air conditioning system specifically tuned for the region. For a buyer seeking a hassle-free, stylish family crossover with strong value retention, this listing stands out as a highly practical opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2018 Sportages

With 137,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven notably less than the typical 8-year-old car in the UAE, which often exceeds 180,000 km. This lower-than-average usage translates to less wear on the suspension and drivetrain components, providing a significant longevity advantage for the next owner. The Blue exterior is a sought-after alternative to the common grayscale palette, offering a distinctive look while maintaining strong resale appeal in the local market.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim adds several essential upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize, including 18-inch alloy wheels and high-quality leather upholstery that significantly improves cabin feel. It features keyless entry with push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control, allowing both the driver and passenger to manage comfort independently during the summer months. Safety is also enhanced with the inclusion of blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, features often missing on the entry-level LX.

Sportage vs Segment Rivals

The Sportage is frequently cross-shopped with the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4, where it leads in providing a more modern, European-inspired interior design and a softer ride quality. Its 62-litre fuel tank provides a generous cruising range for cross-border trips or long drives to the Northern Emirates. Furthermore, the Sportage often offers a more comprehensive feature set at a comparable price point than its Japanese rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L engine delivers a manufacturer-rated 7.9 L/100km combined, making it efficient for daily city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. As one of the region's most popular brands, Kia benefits from an extensive authorized service network with centers available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are always affordable and accessible. Historically, GCC-spec Sportages retain their value exceptionally well, typically depreciating slower than European competitors in the same SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 163 hp output is perfectly suited for urban commuting and maintains steady composure at the UAE's 140 km/h highway limits. With 172 mm of ground clearance, it easily handles sand-drifted roads and high curbs, providing the visibility and confidence expected from a crossover. Selectable drive modes allow you to sharpen throttle response for overtaking or prioritize efficiency for long-distance cruising.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout offers 503 litres of boot space, expanding to 1,492 litres with the rear seats folded, making it highly practical for family shopping trips or weekend gear. The EX cabin is designed for the heat, featuring dedicated rear AC vents to ensure passengers in the back stay cool. Large windows and an ergonomic dashboard layout create an airy, spacious feel that makes long highway stints across the desert far more relaxing.

Safety

Standard safety for this trim includes a suite of airbags, electronic stability control, and ABS, contributing to its high reputation for family protection. The EX specifically benefits from parking sensors and a rearview camera to assist in tight city parking, along with hill-start assist which is useful for parking in multi-story ramps. These active systems provide peace of mind on the fast-moving multi-lane highways common throughout the GCC.

The bottom line

This Sportage EX is perfect for a small family or professional looking for a dependable GCC-spec SUV that has been driven responsibly and offers a more premium feature set than the base models.
