Summary

This 2018 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG represents the final, most refined iteration of the legendary W463 generation, making it a priority for collectors and G-Wagon enthusiasts in the GCC. With just over 71,000 km, its mileage is significantly below the regional average for its age, suggesting a life of careful urban use rather than harsh desert expeditions. The black-on-black color combination remains the most liquid and sought-after specification for resale in the UAE and Saudi markets. While newer models have shifted to the 4.0L engine, many purists still prefer this 5.5L V8 for its raw, mechanical character and iconic side-exit exhaust note. For the GCC buyer, this listing offers a rare chance to own a modern classic that has already weathered its steepest depreciation curve while remaining mechanically robust.

This Car vs Other 2018 G63 AMGs

At roughly 10,000 km per year, this G63 has been driven less than half the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. This lower usage is a major advantage for the 5.5L M157 engine, preserved here in its prime compared to the high-mileage examples frequently found on the market. The black exterior is a tier-one resale color in the region, ensuring it will always command a faster sale and higher value retention than more niche shades.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the top-tier AMG performance model, the G63 adds massive upgrades over the G500, including the hand-assembled 5.5L biturbo engine and a high-performance braking system. Inside, it features a designo Nappa leather interior with diamond stitching and the premium 12-speaker Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system as standard. GCC-essential features like climatized ventilated front seats and a power sunroof are standard on this trim, providing immediate relief during summer peaks.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 stands alone against rivals like the Range Rover SVR and Lexus LX 570 by offering a genuine military-grade triple-locking differential system for unmatched off-road credibility. While the Range Rover focuses on high-speed cornering, the G-Wagon provides a more upright, commanding driving position and a 96-litre fuel tank that is better suited for long-distance hauls across the Emirates. Its body-on-frame construction offers long-term durability that monocoque competitors cannot match in harsh desert environments.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 AMG is famous for its exceptional value retention in the GCC, often holding up to 70% of its value after three years, far outperforming other European luxury SUVs. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.8 L/100km, though heavy city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh will see this rise. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 to 15,000 km, and with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, parts and specialized technicians are always within reach.

Performance & Capability

The 5.5L biturbo V8 delivers 530 hp and a massive 760 Nm of torque, allowing this 2.5-ton icon to reach 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Its specialized AWD system features three independent 100% locking differentials—center, rear, and front—operated by buttons on the dash for ultimate control on sand dunes or gravel. On the highway, the performance-tuned AMG suspension and speed-sensitive steering provide a planted, confident feel during high-speed overtaking.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a blend of rugged tradition and high-end luxury, featuring multi-contour front seats with heating and ventilation that are vital for the GCC climate. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated climate vents and ample headroom, while the cabin is heavily insulated to keep out the desert heat. The Designo leather upholstery and Alcantara headlining ensure that despite its tough exterior, the interior remains an executive-class environment for daily commutes.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this G63 includes Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control and Blind Spot Assist, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane GCC highways. It also features the Pre-Safe system, which prepares the cabin for a collision by tightening belts and closing windows, alongside a comprehensive 6-airbag system. For off-road safety, the 4-ETS electronic traction system works in tandem with the mechanical locks to ensure stability on unpredictable surfaces like loose sand or wet wadi crossings.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the quintessential G-Wagon experience with the punchy 5.5L V8 and low GCC mileage, this black-on-black G63 is the most logical and safe investment in the current market.
