Summary

This specific 2018 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG represents a rare find in the GCC market, combining exceptionally low mileage for its age with the timeless appeal of a black-on-black color scheme. As one of the final production years for this iconic generation, it offers a visceral driving experience and a level of mechanical character that many enthusiasts prefer over newer digital-heavy models. While most SUVs of this age have covered double the distance on the UAE's high-speed road networks, this example has been preserved in a way that suggests it was a secondary or weekend vehicle. The black exterior is the most sought-after resale color for the G-Wagon in this region, ensuring that your investment remains liquid and highly desirable when it eventually comes time to trade. For the serious GCC buyer, the combination of a GCC-spec history and a hand-assembled V8 biturbo engine makes this a top-tier choice that stands out from higher-mileage or imported alternatives. This vehicle perfectly balances the requirements of a daily executive commuter in Dubai or Riyadh with the rugged capability needed for an occasional weekend escape to the dunes.

This Car vs Other 2018 G63 AMGs

When looking at the 2018 G63 AMG market in the GCC, the average mileage typically sits between 100,000 and 120,000 km given the region's habit of long-distance commuting. At just 36,380 km, this unit is firmly in the lowest 5% of available inventory, offering a mechanical freshness that is hard to replicate. The black exterior is a massive advantage here; while white is popular for heat management, black is the undisputed king of resale value for the G-Class in the UAE and Saudi markets, often commanding a premium and selling significantly faster. Furthermore, being a genuine GCC-spec vehicle means it was built with a cooling system and AC compressor specifically designed to handle the 50°C summer peaks common in our region. Many 2018 models currently on the market are North American or Japanese imports which lack the same regional radiator specifications and service history transparency. Choosing this low-mileage GCC example minimizes the risk of the premature wear and tear often seen in cars that have spent six years battling high-speed heat cycles and heavy sand exposure.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

While the trim is labeled as STANDARD, in the world of the G63 AMG, this means it comes equipped with nearly every high-end feature Mercedes Benz offered for this generation. Unlike the base G500 or G550, the AMG variant adds the handcrafted 5.5L V8 engine, which is a significant step up in both prestige and performance that GCC buyers prioritize. You also get the signature side-exit exhaust system that provides the deep, resonant growl famous on the streets of Jumeirah. Inside, the trim includes the designo leather interior as standard, providing a more tactile and luxury-oriented cabin than lower-tier models. The inclusion of the chrome brush guards and the specific AMG body styling—larger air intakes and flared wheel arches—gives it the aggressive road presence that is essential for this segment. Furthermore, this trim features the high-performance braking system with red calipers, providing the necessary stopping power for a vehicle of this weight at highway speeds.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 AMG occupies a unique space in the GCC market, frequently cross-shopped with the Range Rover Autobiography and the Bentley Bentayga. While the Range Rover offers a softer ride, the G63 AMG leads significantly in terms of rugged durability and the ability to hold its value over long ownership cycles in the desert climate. Its boxy design provides superior headroom compared to the sloping rooflines of the Bentayga or the BMW X7, making it more comfortable for taller passengers during long drives across the Emirates. The G63 AMG also features a massive fuel tank, which is a critical advantage for those traveling between major cities like Dubai and Muscat where fuel stops can be infrequent. Unlike many modern luxury SUVs that utilize unibody construction, the G63's body-on-frame chassis is far better suited to the stresses of regional terrain. This model also boasts a more localized service network than boutique rivals, with Mercedes Benz service centers available in almost every major city across the GCC, ensuring parts are always within reach.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a G63 AMG in the GCC is a calculated investment in one of the most stable assets in the automotive world. While the 5.5L V8 biturbo is thirsty, averaging around 14–16 L per 100km in mixed GCC driving, its long-term value retention is unrivaled, often losing only 10–12% of its value annually compared to the 18% seen in other European luxury SUVs. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or once a year, and because this is a GCC-spec car, you have full access to the Gargash or EMC service networks in the UAE, as well as Juffali in KSA. This regional compatibility is vital for resale, as local buyers are often wary of non-GCC cars due to potential sensor and cooling issues. The 2018 model year is particularly desirable as it represents the peak of the classic generation's development, making it a favorite for collectors and enthusiasts alike. You can expect this car to remain a high-demand item in the used market for another decade, largely due to its iconic status and the limited mileage on this specific unit.

Performance & Capability

Performance is led by the monstrous 563 hp and 760 Nm of torque produced by the hand-built V8 engine, which propels this heavy SUV from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. This power is essential for safe overtaking on the fast-moving E11 highway, where merging into 140 km/h traffic requires immediate response. The G63 is one of the few luxury vehicles that remains a genuine off-roader, equipped with three independent 100% locking differentials (front, center, and rear) and a dedicated low-range transfer case. This means it is as capable on a steep dune in Al Badayer as it is on the valet ramp of a five-star hotel. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability on rain-slicked city streets during the winter or on the gravel tracks of the Hajar mountains. With a high ground clearance and a commanding seating position, the driver enjoys a level of visibility that most other SUVs cannot match, providing a sense of security and dominance in heavy traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of this G63 AMG is a sanctuary designed to withstand the harsh GCC environment. It features an incredibly powerful air conditioning system that is famous for cooling the cabin in minutes, even after the car has been parked in the direct sun of a Riyadh summer. The seats are highly adjustable and provide excellent support for long-distance hauls between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. High-quality cabin insulation ensures that despite the upright windshield, wind noise is kept to a minimum, allowing you to enjoy the premium Harman Kardon surround sound system. The use of premium materials like carbon fiber accents and Alcantara headlining creates a sophisticated atmosphere that feels modern even years after production. Rear passengers enjoy dedicated cooling vents and ample legroom, making it a viable choice for families who want to travel in style without sacrificing the utility of a five-door SUV.

Safety

Safety in the G63 AMG is comprehensive, featuring a suite of driver assistance technologies that are particularly helpful on the multi-lane highways of the GCC. It comes standard with Blind Spot Assist, which is vital given the vehicle's unique boxy geometry and the fast-moving traffic common in the region. Adaptive cruise control (Distronic Plus) makes the long, straight desert roads much less fatiguing by automatically maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. The car is also equipped with a reinforced safety cell and multiple airbags, providing peace of mind for family use. Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and traction control systems are specifically tuned to handle sudden changes in surface grip, such as sand blowing across the road or sudden rain showers. The high-performance AMG braking system ensures that even under the heat of a summer afternoon, braking distances remain short and consistent.

The bottom line

For a buyer who wants the raw power and iconic presence of the classic G-Wagon silhouette without the high-mileage risks, this GCC-spec 2018 G63 AMG is an unbeatable opportunity. It offers the perfect bridge between a collector's item and a daily driver, holding its value better than almost anything else on the road today.
