Toyota Land Cruiser VXR 5.7

Highlights

• 3,674 kg maximum braked towing capacity
• 138-liter dual fuel tank system
• 14-speaker JBL Synthesis audio system standard

Summary

This Land Cruiser VXR represents the peak of the 200-series generation, offering the rare combination of a high-output 5.7L V8 and flagship luxury. With exactly eight years of age and 146,000 km, its mileage sits below the GCC average of 160,000–200,000 km for this model year, signaling a well-preserved life. The white exterior is the highest-demand color in the regional market, ensuring this SUV will hold its value better than almost any rival. For the GCC buyer, this is the ultimate cross-border cruiser, capable of long desert highway stints and serious off-road weekends without breaking a sweat. It stands out by offering a level of mechanical durability that modern monocoque SUVs simply cannot match.

This Car vs Other 2018 Land Cruisers

While many Land Cruisers of this vintage have been pushed past the 200,000 km mark, this example’s 146,000 km is notably low for the GCC market. The white paintwork is a significant asset here, as it is the most preferred color for heat rejection and resale liquidity in the UAE and wider Gulf. Choosing a GCC-spec VXR over imported alternatives ensures you have the correct cooling systems for 50-degree summers and full compatibility with local authorized service centers.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a substantial step up from the GXR and EXR, replacing standard materials with semi-aniline perforated leather and adding essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats. It also features the upgraded 14-speaker JBL Synthesis audio system and the Multi-Terrain Monitor, which provides a 360-degree view that is invaluable for both tight parking and technical off-road driving. Unlike lower trims, the VXR includes the full ADAS suite, including Adaptive Cruise Control, which transforms long highway drives between Emirates.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol, the Land Cruiser leads in long-term value retention and the sheer size of its 138-liter dual-tank system, which provides a vastly superior range for remote desert travel. While European rivals like the Range Rover offer more road-focused technology, the Land Cruiser’s body-on-frame construction and Toyota’s massive regional parts network make it the only logical choice for buyers prioritizing reliability. Its 8-seat configuration is also more genuinely usable for large families than the cramped third rows found in many German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.7L V8 is built for longevity rather than efficiency, typically averaging 15.7 L/100km in mixed GCC conditions. Maintenance is remarkably straightforward, with major service intervals every 10,000 km and an authorized service network that covers every corner of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, this model sees some of the lowest depreciation rates in the world, often retaining over 60% of its value even after eight years. Parts are universally available at competitive prices, keeping long-term ownership costs predictable.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp 5.7L V8 delivers a massive 530 Nm of torque, allowing this 8-year-old SUV to tow up to 3,674 kg with ease. On the road, the 8-speed automatic provides smooth highway cruising, while off-road, the Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control systems make it nearly unstoppable in deep sand. With 225 mm of ground clearance and a robust all-wheel-drive system, it is perfectly suited for weekend expeditions to Liwa or the Hajar Mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the VXR cabin is designed to stay cool in extreme heat, featuring a powerful four-zone climate control system and ventilated front seats that are a necessity for the region. The center console includes a factory-fitted cool box to keep refreshments chilled during long desert drives. The 8-seat layout is flexible, with a third row that folds away against the cabin walls to create a flat loading floor for camping gear or large shopping trips.

Safety

This VXR is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, providing vital protection for fast-moving highway traffic. Key features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, and a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The vehicle also features 10 airbags and specialized systems like Trailer Sway Control and a 360-degree camera, ensuring maximum confidence whether you are navigating city traffic or towing a boat to the coast.

The bottom line

For the buyer who needs a bulletproof 8-seater that holds its value like gold, this low-mileage VXR is the definitive GCC choice.
