Summary

This 2019 Ford Expedition Platinum represents the high-water mark for American full-size SUVs, offering a sophisticated alternative to traditional V8 rivals. Its 73,000 km mileage is notably low for the GCC market, where these long-distance cruisers often cover double that distance by their fifth year. The Platinum trim is the most desirable in the region, featuring high-output engine tuning and luxury cabin finishes that hold their value better than base models. Finished in white, the most heat-reflective and resale-friendly color for the UAE climate, this SUV is perfectly suited for large families requiring premium comfort and serious towing power. It remains one of the few vehicles in its class to offer a genuinely usable third row for adults, making it a standout choice for cross-border GCC road trips.

This Car vs Other 2019 Expeditions

With just 73,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 14,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 25,000 km for full-size SUVs. The exterior white finish is the highest-demand color in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat management during summer months. Mechanically, the Platinum trim provides a higher power output than the standard XLT or Limited models from the same year.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim upgrades the 3.5L EcoBoost engine to a high-output 400 hp tune, surpassing the 375 hp found in lower grades. Luxury features standard on this trim include 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, a panoramic Vista Roof, and multi-contour front seats with Active Motion massage—features highly prized by GCC buyers. It also adds a premium 12-speaker B&O Play audio system and enhanced wood-grain interior accents not found on the XLT.

Expedition vs Segment Rivals

The Expedition leads the Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol in available legroom and third-row accessibility, making it the preferred choice for large family logistics. While rivals rely on large-displacement V8s, the Ford’s twin-turbo V6 offers superior low-end torque for easier highway overtaking and a more modern 10-speed transmission. Its class-leading towing capacity of over 4,000 kg makes it the benchmark for hauling heavy trailers or boats across the Emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption is optimized via the 10-speed automatic, though real-world GCC city driving typically sees 16–19 L/100km, improving significantly on long highway stretches. Ford has a robust authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with parts readily available at competitive price points compared to European luxury SUVs. The Platinum trim historically retains roughly 50-55% of its value after five years in the GCC, performing slightly better than its American segment peers.

Performance & Capability

The 3.5L EcoBoost V6 delivers a robust 650 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of just 6.6 seconds—faster than many smaller crossovers. The Four-Wheel Drive system is managed through a Terrain Management System with seven selectable modes, including a dedicated Sand mode for desert excursions. Its heavy-duty independent rear suspension provides a level of highway stability and ride comfort that traditional live-axle competitors struggle to match.

Comfort & Cabin

Configured for eight passengers, the cabin features three rows of seating with power-folding functionality for the rear tiers. GCC-specific comfort is ensured by a high-capacity dual-zone climate control system with dedicated rear vents and controls for every row. The front seats are both heated and ventilated, providing essential cooling for the driver and passenger during extreme summer heatwaves.

Safety

This Platinum model features a comprehensive ADAS suite including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist, and Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection. The 360-degree camera system is vital for maneuvering a vehicle of this size in tight city parking, while Blind Spot Monitoring with Trailer Coverage adds peace of mind during highway towing. Standard safety includes a full curtain airbag system and stability control optimized for high-center-of-gravity vehicles.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, top-tier Platinum specimen that offers the best available tech and power for the 2019 model year. For a GCC family seeking a white-on-tan luxury workhorse that has bypassed the heaviest years of depreciation, this listing is a high-value opportunity.
