Summary

This 2019 Honda CR-V EX Plus sits in the sweet spot for UAE buyers, offering a higher specification level than the entry-level LX while maintaining the model’s legendary reliability. In the GCC market, the Grey exterior is a highly practical choice that resists showing dust and holds its value exceptionally well at resale compared to niche colors. With mileage just above 90,000 km, this vehicle has been driven typical annual distances for the region and remains mechanically sound for years of desert highway commuting. It stands out from rivals by offering one of the most spacious and versatile cabins in the compact SUV segment. This is an ideal pick for small families or professionals who prioritize safety tech and long-term durability in the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2019 Honda CR-Vs

With 90,700 km on the odometer, this CR-V has been driven approximately 18,000 km per year, which is below the typical GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for highway-heavy commuting. The Grey paint is one of the most resilient colors for the UAE’s sun and dust, ensuring it looks fresh for longer and stays high on the list for future buyers. It represents a balanced opportunity, having passed the initial high-depreciation years while still offering modern safety technology.

EX PLUS vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the EX Plus adds the critical Honda Sensing suite, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Assist—features that make a massive difference on long drives between Emirates. Unlike the base LX, this trim includes a larger 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, essential for navigating local traffic. You also gain a one-touch power moonroof, dual-zone climate control, and 18-inch alloy wheels that improve the car's presence and comfort.

Honda CR-V vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan X-Trail, the CR-V leads in interior space utilization, providing a flatter load floor and more rear legroom for family use. Its turbocharged powertrain provides smoother low-end torque than many naturally aspirated rivals, which is particularly useful for overtaking on the E11. Honda’s reputation for air conditioning performance also makes it a preferred choice for surviving the peak GCC summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.5L turbocharged engine is designed for efficiency, averaging roughly 8.0 L/100km in combined GCC driving conditions. Honda enjoys one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, keeping maintenance straightforward and parts readily available. In the local market, the CR-V typically depreciates at a slow rate of 8-10% annually, making it one of the safest financial bets in the used SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 190 hp turbocharged engine delivers responsive power that feels more substantial than its displacement suggests, perfect for merging into fast-moving highway traffic. While designed primarily for the road, its 208 mm ground clearance allows for confident driving on graded gravel tracks and soft sand access roads common near GCC weekend spots. The CVT is tuned for smoothness, prioritizing a quiet cabin experience during cross-country trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to shield occupants from the heat, featuring powerful dual-zone automatic climate control and dedicated rear air vents to keep all five passengers cool. A 12-way power driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support ensures comfort during long commutes from Sharjah or Abu Dhabi to Dubai. The class-leading 552-litre boot easily handles large grocery hauls or weekend luggage, and the 60/40 split rear seats fold nearly flat for maximum utility.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the EX Plus, which comes standard with the Honda Sensing package. This includes Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. The car’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure is designed to direct crash energy away from the cabin, contributing to its perfect 5-star safety scores.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec CR-V is a smart, low-risk purchase for anyone seeking a tech-forward family SUV that is built to handle the local environment while retaining a high resale value.
