Summary

This 2019 Range Rover Autobiography offers a high-specification entry into the flagship luxury SUV segment, featuring the potent 5.0L V8 supercharged engine. While the mileage reflects consistent highway use, the Autobiography trim provides a significantly more refined cabin environment than the standard Vogue, making it ideal for long-distance commuting. Its black-on-black color scheme remains the most sought-after combination for resale in the UAE and wider GCC market. For a buyer looking for executive-level comfort without the steep depreciation of a newer model, this European-spec example provides a sophisticated and capable daily driver.

This Car vs Other 2019 Range Rovers

At 187,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km, suggesting a life spent primarily on regional highways rather than in stop-start city traffic. As a European-spec import, it features the same mechanical powertrain as local models but may require verified service history to ensure the cooling system has been maintained for high-ambient temperatures. The black exterior is a primary driver for value retention in this market, consistently outperforming lighter or niche colors at resale.

Autobiography vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Autobiography trim adds significant standard luxuries that are optional on the Vogue SE, including 24-way adjustable massage front seats and the upgraded Semi-Aniline leather interior. The cabin experience is further elevated by the 1700W Meridian Signature Sound System and four-zone climate control, which is essential for maintaining individual passenger comfort during the peak GCC summer. You also benefit from the full suite of driver aids, including a 360-degree surround camera and adaptive cruise control as standard.

Range Rover vs Segment Rivals

The Range Rover leads the Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-Benz GLS in pure off-road geometry, offering a maximum ground clearance of 296 mm via its electronic air suspension. While rivals often focus exclusively on tarmac performance, the Land Rover provides a unique 104-litre fuel tank that is better suited for long-distance cross-border drives between emirates. The Command Driving Position remains a distinct advantage, providing better visibility over sand dunes or through heavy city traffic than its lower-slung competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.0L Supercharged V8 delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 12.8 L/100km, though expect higher figures in UAE city traffic with the AC running at full capacity. Land Rover’s authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, typically requiring maintenance every 13,000 km or 12 months. While European luxury SUVs experience steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the Autobiography trim holds its value better than base models due to the high demand for its premium features in the used market.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 518 hp supercharged V8, this SUV achieves a top speed of 225 km/h, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. The Terrain Response 2 system automatically adjusts the vehicle's settings to suit surfaces ranging from deep sand to gravel, making it a genuine weekend companion for desert exploration. With a braked towing capacity of 3,500 kg, it is also one of the most capable vehicles in its class for hauling boats or trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat layout features Executive Class rear seating with power recline and heating, ensuring rear passengers enjoy the same level of luxury as those in the front. The cabin is exceptionally well-insulated against exterior heat and wind noise, featuring acoustic laminated glass and a powerful AC system designed to handle high humidity. The dual 10-inch Touch Pro Duo screens provide a modern interface for navigation and media, integrated seamlessly into the leather-wrapped dashboard.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite of active systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Assist which is vital for multi-lane highway driving. The Autobiography trim also includes a 360-degree parking aid and Clear Exit Monitor to protect passengers when opening doors near moving traffic. Stability on varied surfaces is maintained by Dynamic Stability Control and Roll Stability Control, providing peace of mind during sudden weather changes or off-road excursions.

The bottom line

This is an ideal choice for the executive buyer who prioritizes the prestige and feature-set of the Autobiography trim and values the strong resale potential of a black-on-black Range Rover.
