Mercedes Benz CLS350 STANDARD

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 6.0 seconds
• Hybrid powertrain
• 475 litres boot space

Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS350 bridges the gap between a traditional executive sedan and a sporting coupe, offering a more distinctive silhouette than the standard E-Class. Finished in Grey, a color that consistently performs well for resale in the UAE, this GCC-spec example features the efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged engine paired with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. It provides a refined, quiet cabin experience that excels on long highway hauls between emirates while maintaining better city efficiency than its V6 predecessors. With its mileage sitting around the regional average for a five-year-old vehicle, it remains a technically advanced choice for those who value modern aesthetics without the upkeep of a full AMG model. The single most important consideration for a GCC buyer is the peace of mind offered by its local regional specifications, ensuring the cooling and filtration systems are optimized for the desert climate.

This Car vs Other 2019 CLS350s

With 120,000 km, this vehicle sits at the expected average for a 2019 model in the GCC market, where annual use typically reaches 20,000 to 25,000 km. The Grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand choice in the region that resists the visible effects of dust better than darker shades, helping to maintain its market value. Choosing a GCC-spec model over an imported American or European alternative is a significant advantage here, as it ensures the air conditioning and engine cooling are built to handle peak summer temperatures.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the base entry for this generation, the CLS350 Standard still comes equipped with high-value features like the 12.3-inch high-resolution COMAND display and ambient lighting with 64 colors. It includes the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and DYNAMIC SELECT modes as standard, ensuring a premium driving feel without the added complexity of higher trims. Unlike lower-tier luxury sedans, this trim includes LED High Performance headlamps and a leather-wrapped interior as standard equipment.

CLS350 vs Segment Rivals

The CLS350 competes directly with the Audi A7 and the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, leading with a design language that pioneered the four-door coupe segment. It offers a 66-litre fuel tank which provides substantial range for cross-country drives compared to smaller-capacity hybrid rivals. While competitors often focus on pure sportiness, the CLS emphasizes a balance of acoustic comfort and ride refinement that is better suited to the UAE's high-speed highway network.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L hybrid powertrain delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.8 L/100km, making it one of the most efficient ways to drive a large Mercedes sedan in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Service intervals for Mercedes-Benz in the GCC are typically every 15,000 km, supported by an extensive network of authorized service centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. While European luxury brands generally see 12-18% annual depreciation, the CLS350 maintains a loyal following in the secondary market due to its unique styling and modern tech suite.

Performance & Capability

Capable of reaching 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, the CLS350 offers brisk acceleration that makes highway merging and overtaking effortless. The 48V EQ Boost system provides an additional torque surge when needed, while the rear-wheel-drive layout maintains the classic Mercedes-Benz handling characteristic. With a top speed of 250 km/h, it is perfectly composed during long-distance travel, offering multiple drive modes to stiffen the response for the open road or soften it for city streets.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with high-quality materials, featuring a digital cockpit that integrates seamlessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the GCC climate, the powerful multi-zone automatic climate control is a standout, ensuring the interior remains cool even when parked in direct sun. The 475-litre boot provides practical space for family shopping or luggage, and the cabin insulation effectively blocks out road noise during high-speed cruising between emirates.

Safety

This trim comes standard with a robust safety suite including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and the Pre-Safe system which prepares the cabin for a potential impact. The 360° camera system is particularly useful for navigating tight parking spaces in urban centers like Downtown Dubai. For long desert highway drives, the standard cruise control and lane-keeping features reduce driver fatigue and enhance overall safety.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec CLS350 is an ideal opportunity for an executive buyer who wants a modern, stylish Mercedes that balances performance with everyday efficiency. It offers the right specification for the local climate and sits at a fair mileage point for its year.
