Summary

This 2019 Mercedes Benz G63 AMG represents the first year of the most significant redesign in the model's history, offering a level of road manners and technology previously unseen in this iconic SUV. With its current mileage reflecting a balanced history within the GCC’s high-utilization environment, this vehicle offers a massive performance advantage over standard luxury SUVs while maintaining its legendary status. The Grey exterior is a highly sought-after executive shade in the UAE, ensuring it holds its presence and resale value better than more niche colors. It stands out from rivals by blending genuine military-grade mechanical hardware with a cabin that rivals the S-Class in refinement. For a buyer in the GCC, this G-Wagon provides the perfect balance of prestige and power, being equally at home on a high-speed highway cruise as it is in the most demanding terrain. Owning a G63 in this region is more than a car choice; it is an investment in an automotive icon that historically commands the strongest resale demand in the secondary market.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

At approximately 97,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 19,000 km per year, which is notably lower than the GCC average of 20,000 to 25,000 km for high-end luxury SUVs. While many 2019 models in the market have already crossed the 120,000 km mark due to frequent cross-emirate commuting, this specific example shows signs of careful ownership and more moderate usage. The Grey exterior is a significant advantage in the local market, as it hides the inevitable desert dust better than black and commands a higher resale premium than white due to its modern, tactical aesthetic. This European-spec model often includes high-specification interior packages that are sometimes omitted in other regions, providing a unique cabin feel compared to more common local variants. Buyers will find the mechanical condition consistent with a car that has spent its life on well-maintained arterial roads rather than being subjected to heavy work duties. It offers a fresh opportunity to enter the current-generation G-Wagon ownership experience at a much more accessible point than a zero-kilometer unit while retaining the same iconic silhouette and performance.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Choosing the G63 AMG over the lower G500 trim is a decision that completely transforms the vehicle's personality and market standing in the GCC. While the G500 is a capable luxury off-roader, the G63 introduces the hand-built AMG 4.0L V8 Biturbo engine, which is a masterpiece of engineering signed by its individual builder. Beyond the engine, this trim adds the wider fender flares, side-exit exhaust pipes that provide a signature acoustic presence on city streets, and the high-performance braking system essential for stopping such a powerful machine in fast-moving traffic. Inside, the G63 features the AMG-specific performance steering wheel and enhanced upholstery options that elevate the cabin to a bespoke luxury level. The 360-degree camera system and advanced parking sensors, which are often options on lower trims, are typically standard here, making navigating tight urban spaces much easier. For a GCC buyer, the G63 badge is a non-negotiable requirement for maximum prestige and the highest possible retention of value over time.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 AMG occupies a unique space where it competes with both high-performance SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus and ultra-luxury options like the Range Rover Autobiography. Unlike the Urus, the G63 offers a genuine ladder-frame chassis and three independent locking differentials, giving it off-road capabilities that no other performance SUV can match. Compared to the Range Rover, the Mercedes Benz offers a much more aggressive and modern tech interface with its dual-screen cockpit, and its resale value in the GCC is historically more stable. The G-Class also provides a commanding, upright seating position that offers better visibility in heavy traffic than the more car-like profiles of the Bentley Bentayga. While rivals often lean toward either pure speed or pure comfort, the G63 manages to deliver both without sacrificing the rugged DNA that has made it a symbol of success across the Middle East. Its ability to maintain high speeds on the highway while remaining a legitimate mountain-climber gives it a versatility that few, if any, competitors can honestly claim.

Running Costs & Resale

Running a G63 AMG in the GCC involves premium maintenance but offers the reward of the slowest depreciation in the luxury SUV segment. The 4.0L V8 engine requires high-octane petrol, which is readily available at all major stations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. In local stop-start traffic, fuel consumption is substantial, but on the long highways between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the cylinder deactivation technology helps manage efficiency surprisingly well. Service intervals typically occur every 15,000 km or once a year, and the authorized service network for Mercedes Benz is exceptionally strong throughout the region, ensuring parts and expertise are never far away. While this is a European spec car, the commonality of parts with GCC models ensures that routine maintenance remains straightforward at specialized service centers. Historically, the G63 loses value much slower than its European counterparts, often retaining up to 75% of its value after three years in the GCC market, making it one of the safest financial placements in the automotive world.

Performance & Capability

The performance of the G63 is headlined by its 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, allowing this massive SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. This level of acceleration is vital for safely merging onto fast-moving GCC highways where traffic often flows at 140 km/h. The 9-speed automatic transmission is tuned to provide instantaneous downshifts, ensuring that overtaking is effortless regardless of the load. Beyond speed, the G63 is a master of capability, featuring high ground clearance and a sophisticated suspension system that was completely overhauled for this generation to improve high-speed stability. It features multiple drive modes, including 'Slippery' and 'Sport+', allowing the driver to tailor the vehicle’s behavior to the immediate environment, whether it be a rain-slicked city road or a gravel track. The permanent all-wheel-drive system provides immense confidence, ensuring that the power is delivered to the ground effectively, even in the high temperatures and sandy conditions common to the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin of the 2019 G63 AMG was a total revolution, moving away from its utilitarian roots to a space defined by high-definition screens and fine leather. The five-seat layout offers ample headroom for all passengers, making it a comfortable choice for long family road trips across the borders. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered to handle extreme desert heat, cooling the large interior volume rapidly even after the car has been parked in the sun. Ventilated seats are a highlight, providing essential comfort during the peak summer months, while the Burmester surround sound system provides a concert-like audio experience that masks road and wind noise perfectly. The insulation in this generation is vastly improved over older models, making it a much more viable daily driver for those who value cabin tranquility. With a generous boot capacity, it easily accommodates luxury shopping trips or weekend getaway gear, proving that iconic style does not have to come at the expense of practical utility.

Safety

Safety in the G63 AMG is handled by a comprehensive suite of Mercedes Benz’s most advanced driver assistance systems. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, which is indispensable for long highway stretches, and active lane-keeping assist to keep you centered during long drives. Blind-spot monitoring is particularly helpful in this vehicle given its unique dimensions, providing an extra layer of security when changing lanes on busy multi-lane roads. The vehicle also features Pre-Safe technology, which prepares the cabin and occupants if a collision is detected as imminent. High-performance LED headlamps provide exceptional visibility during night drives through unlit desert areas, while the robust construction of the G-Class itself provides a physical safety shell that few other vehicles can match. It is a vehicle designed to protect its occupants with both modern electronics and traditional mechanical strength, making it one of the safest choices on the road today.

The bottom line

This G63 AMG is the perfect choice for an executive or enthusiast looking for the iconic G-Wagon presence with modern road performance and a refined interior. Given its desirable Grey finish and reasonable mileage for a 2019 model in the GCC, it represents a high-value opportunity to own a legendary AMG powerhouse.
